Lakers are currently dead last and only team averaging more than 15 TOs per game

3 pt shooting % ONLY ranks as good as 23rd due to a red hot start to the season.

We also shoot 5-7 less per game and are one of the worst making them even being "picky" about attempts. Yikes.

Turnovers are a weird stat, because they aren't all bad. Some great teams averaged a lot of turnovers. Just look at the list that you linked, and you'll see that there isn't a correlation between turnovers and team success. There is a paradox: you don't want to turn the ball over, but good offenses often have high numbers of turnovers. It's all a function of why you are committing turnovers. A risk-taking offense can be a highly effective offense.

The highest rate of turnovers per game (24.52) was the '77 Nuggets. They finished 50-32. The lowest rate of turnovers per game per game (11.18) was the '12 Sixers. They finished 35-31. Go figure.

though you make a valid point, our TO are because our ball handlers suck at it.

Well, then that's the real problem, isn't it? Our ballhandlers are less than proficient.

Turnovers will likely get even worse after LeBron and the ADs get integrated back and they have to re-learn playing together

By the way, Lebron is the all-time leader in career turnovers. Kobe is 4th, or 5th if you count ABA stats.

I knew the TOs were bad, didn’t realize they ranked that low.

Doubt it is going to get any better considering James averages 3.7 and Drummond 3.0 per game.

Lakers make the dumbest turnovers, so much over passing and passing when going up for a shot

It was happening with the stars as well. DS is so small he gets his passes deflected.

What kills me is so many unforced ones. Such momentum killers. It's like giving the other team free "pass go and collect $200" cards.

I get the aggressive ones, but the ones that come off like 3 stooges basketball. Just...ugh.

Yea it’s the ones where we can’t throw it in the post efficiently or just can’t dribble that kill me.

DS really sucks in throwing that entry pass.

One thing that's been missing much of the season has been those cross court bombs out in transition. LBJ and Rondo would do those with regularity. And lonzo did before that.

I was surprised to see us ranked 23rd in turnover rate last season, given that Lebron ran point and had an elite assist/turnover ratio.

Luka runs a similar heliocentric offense while committing more turnovers than Lebron, yet the Mavericks ranked 2nd last season and 3rd this season in TO committed.

Seems we're just not a well oiled offensive team, especially so this year.

I've said this before... I wonder how much of our smoother offense last year was due to our unnoficial offensive coordinator... Rajon Rondo?

Does this stat matter when we were near the bottom of the pack in TOs both in the regular and postseason last year too? Would be curious to see how many PTS off of TOs we are giving up...i.e., are we getting hurt badly by the TOs, or are we able to recover defensively and get back in transition?

Not worried about it honestly it's a nonissue.

When LeBron comes back the ball will be in his hands 75% of the time in the playoffs. It is also very easy to put pressure on ball handlers when no1 else can create on the team which is what's happening to both THT and Dennis.

THT has been committing or helping commit at least 5 of those but I am glad Vogel is giving him so much freedom. He will get it together but needs more reps. He had a game with double digits assists the other day. Vogel is working on his weakness at PG because that's where he will be next year if Dennis bounces

Schroeder is more of a scorer than a playmaker which is not a negative thing. Hes the Walmart version of Kyrie as far as being a SG in a PG's body. I wish he would just be more aggressive. He just needs to be more confident, you not gonna get 20+ M to do what Avery Bradley used to do for 5M.
