The game itself won't be as much remembered as what happened - LBJ in the second quarter got hurt. Appeared ankle related. There are diverse opinions on this thread about how it happened, and I will leave that alone. But what did happen is this: He did not play the rest of the game, and we do not yet know how much time he will miss.
After LBJ went down, Lakers stayed competitive. In fact, were up 53-52 at the half. But then the second half came. For some reason, for three straight games now (may even be 4), the Lakers started the 3rd quarter poorly and this time it was horrific: They did not score a single point for almost the entire first 6 minutes of the third. As that happened, the Hawks slowly creeped their lead up. By the time the lakers started scoring, Gallinari started going off with run stopping 3 after run stopping 3.
Hawks length and size with Capella and Collins became even more of an issue after LBJ went down. They both had 16 boards, and were locking down the paint for alot of possessions.
Despite falling as much as 14 down, Lakers still had fight (led by Trez). Got in striking distance a couple times but down the stretch did not make run-needed shots, while Hawks made run-stopping shots.
One slight dissapointment: DS. Down LBJ was hoping he'd really step up. While he got to the line (8-9), he only shot an incredibly poor 4-15 from the field. 7-15 and...maybe they win? Shrug.
Anyway, let's just hope LBJ's injury is not serious. Going to be rough without him and AD. |
Honestly the slight disappointment really was KCP coming up with a bit 0 points again. Yes, DS was 26% but at least he put up numbers. We need more from ALL of our starters. A zero point game is unacceptable for any starter, especially since KCP played 20 minutes. |

True, team leading -18 as well. I think I was expecting DS to step up more with what happened to LBJ, but you are right - everyone needs to be a bit better and KCP went the opposite direction.
I cant critique the team too much cuz when you lose a guy like LBJ mid-game it makes it difficult to really adjust. But, am dissapointed nonetheless. |

The next game should be telling as far as what adjustments Vogel makes and how the team responds. |

Slow it down - Hill went right underneath him with his knee angled right at LBJ -- that's alot of force.
So F. Solomon. Hill. |

Vogel along with everyone else will need to earn their money to get a win - no doubt.

Montrezl and DS agree with y’all on the dirty/unnecessary play side. It’ll be interesting to see what if anything the league does. |

from Dancing Barry's description of 3rd Q, looks like we could've used Gasol high post/3pt threat to open up the paint |

Bumass Solomon Hill that sh!t wasn’t a naturally basketball defensive swipe.
He’s definitely still bitter we whooped his ass in the Finals.
Just thankful it wasn’t worse like a fracture or anything to do with the knees.
Don’t care if Lebron somehow channels his inner Mamba and deems himself ready to play sit his ass out a few games a week or two.
Fkkk the meaningless standings.
Health over wealth always 💪🏀💪🏀💪🏀 |

I’m guessing his DM’s and notifications are full of people saying horrible things about him. It has even happened to Lakers players who have missed a big shot or had a bad game. Twitter can be pretty ruthless. |
