Morey would probably love to get his hands on a shooter like Wes to put around Embiid and Simmons.
Especially with Danny Green playing like trash.
If im Rob, im on the phone as soon as Wes is eligible to trade and offering him for Dwight straight up. |
that would be a bad trade. I wish we kept Dwight too but this team's current composition has no minutes for him and as good as he played for us he was also a huge foul magnet which is showing again in Philly. Wes on the other hand has an essential role as our only 3 and D wing. (No Kuzma is not at his level on that yet) _________________ (bleep) Kawhi |

THIS is the Wes Matthews that I was expecting! He is finally getting into a rhythm and meshing with his new team.
Hopefully he can follow up this performance by being more consistent in upcoming games.
I don't expect him to go 6-6 every night but I do believe that he'll play more in sync with his teammates going forward..
IMO Wes is our best 3D guy and a big part of the team's immediate future. |

Just looked at Danny's stats this year. Just terrible. I hope Philly fans aren't too harsh on him. Dude's a good guy. He just doesn't have it anymore as a player. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Lakers fans told me THT is the next coming and he MUST get run now.
He should EASILY be able to step into the minutes vacated with this possible trade.
We are guard heavy and have no legit big men outside of Gasol and AD and our interior defense is atrocious right now.
Why not sure up a glaring weakness by thining out an already crowded backcourt?
I wouldnt think twice about doing this trade if Philly was willing. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

I could easily see WM closing out playoff games for us. He is a keeper. |

Quote: | Lakers wing Wesley Matthews, a longtime starter in the NBA, is adjusting to his new role coming off the bench, according to Kyle Goon of the Orange County Register.
“We don’t worry about Wes,” head coach Frank Vogel said. “He’s a knockdown shooter and a great defender. Just excited that he’s in a Lakers uniform and what kind of things he’s gonna give us throughout the year.” |

Great defense, and the shooting is coming around for him. Loved seeing him splash 6 threes on the Spurs to end their year |

Wes can actually create his own shots. Besides a little shorter, Danny green has nothing on this guy. |

I think the current version of Wes is better than the current version of Danny Green.
KCP is underrated too, he has come on strong since about halfway through last season. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

He gets it.
At 3.6M this was a steal. Just a steal. I already felt this was a good FA pickup, but now I am like STEAL.
He does everything you wanted from Danny Green. At one fifth the price. Defends hard, moves well in the offense to get spaced out open shots. Even can make a post move (like in his younger days against Kobe) on occasion. |

Yes this is a steal - love it.
I hesitate however to say he's better or worse VS Green. Old, slow, "made that three and you would have become legendary " Danny has that intangible. Of being in the right place and doing the right thing. _________________ Lakers fan since that Magical day June 25, 1979. |

Kudos to Wes Matthews!
After several DNP's Wes Matthews shot lights out and played solid defense.
16 points, 5-7fg, 3-4 treys, 3 rebs, 2 steals, +10.
* Wes Matthews passed Steve Nash on the all time three point shooting list.
Quote: | Dancing Barry
"Exceptional performance by Wes tonight,” Your 10th or 11th man just came in and dropped 16 and made some of the biggest plays of the night.
“Just staying ready. It’s about being a Laker, about being a pro,” he said afterward. Huge, huge plays from all night, but a big three in crunch time with 1:30 left, followed by a steal on the other end helped get this team the W.
He’d also sink probably the dagger three in OT when LeBron found him weakside for another three to go up by 7 with 2 minutes left in OT.
So four straight DNPs and he comes off the bench for four threes, a block, a couple steal and 16 points. It was a dog fight tonight and he had plenty of fight in him.
His on ball D was great and there were a couple of reads on help D that were perfect. This is the two-way ball you hope you will get when the pressure is on come post season.
He passed Steve Nash tonight on the all time three shooting list.
The Stats: He scored 16 points on 5-7 shooting (4-5 from three, 2-2 from the line) to go with 3 boards, 1 assist, 2 steals, 1 block and 4 fouls in 26 minutes. He was a +10.

Quote: | With his third 3-pointer, Matthews (1,687) passed Steve Nash for 24th on the NBA's all-time career 3-pointers list.
.. Before this season, Matthews had started 729 of 791 career regular-season games and 46 of 46 playoff games. |

Both Kieff and Wes will be far more valuable than that, in the playoffs. There's no way you're going to see Frank run long minute lineups without 3 point shooting. The guys can not hesitate. Right now, our lineups have a lot of hesitant 3 point shooters. Come playoffs, I see both Kieff and Wesley being in the rotation regularly.
IMO:
Marc won't play over Kieff unless he is defending someone elite at the 5. I see AD at the 5, Kieff at the 4 to space the floor.
A little less minutes for some of our guards, who are not elite shooters (THT/Dennis) for a natural shooter like Wesley.
It will be matchup based of course, but I can see series where we use Kieff over Gasol. And series, we don't.

This dude can give us 10-12 points on a nightly basis, hopefully the confidence is back and is here to stay for good. |

He’s earned them back. Thing is it can’t come at the expense of Caruso. Curious what Vogel does here |
