In addition to being James (bleep) Bond and the only guy who ever escaped from Alcatraz, check out Sir Connery in The Offence, The Hill, Marnie, and Robin and Marian for his range as a screen star.

And Zardoz for the chest hair.

I really enjoyed watching him in Medicine Man (1992).
(saw that one in the movie theater)

Damn . . . damn . . . damn . . . One of my all time favorites and the only TRUE Bond. And one can't forget about The Untouchables as either among the others mentioned.

RIP Sir Thomas Sean Connery

Yeah, like the similarly aged Hackman and Eastwood, he seemed a permanent fixture in life. One of the true leading men.

Heck, he (and Clancy Brown) almost make Highlander watchable.

Captain John Patrick Mason, General Sir.. SAS Her Majesty’s... retired of course

It takes a great titanic screen presence to out-stage the great Ed Harris. Connery had that and more. He was truly one of the all-time greats.

His roles in The Rock and The Last Crusade will always be memorable to me as those films mean a lot. But everything he did was first class, he elevated everything he was ever in. RIP

A legend. One of my all-time favorites. Along with many other films that have already been mentioned, The Hunt For Red October is a movie that I would always watch, no matter what point it was at, when I would see it on a cable channel. He had a presence and an aura that few people on the big screen ever have.

May he RIP.

One of my favorites also. The scene when he took command of the sub and headed into the path of the torpedo was classic. He was so kool.

Halsey was a total idiot abandoning the landings; his ass was saved by some very courageous commanders who took insane risks with vastly inferior forces against the Japanese. In terms of the film, Red October is enjoyable despite Alec Baldwin being cast as Jack Ryan. That role should have been reserved for Harrison Ford.

I'm mixed on Sean Connery as an actor, but he was absolutely brilliant as James Bond.

Conspiracy theory: Sean Connery actually directed The Rock
Quote:
Werebraunger
@Braunger
RIP Sean Connery. A character actor friend (who shall go unnamed) worked on “The Rock.” At one point Michael Bay tried to direct his acting. Sean casually turned to him & said, “Why don’t you go blow up a bridge?”

Quote:
Steven Santos
@stevensantos
There have long been stories about the making of this movie concerning Sean Connery, as a producer, taking control of the script rewrites and essentially directing the other actors himself on set because Michael Bay simply didn't know how to do either of those things well
