Workload is the biggest possible cause for Walker's rough month. He has a 2.58 ERA on the season, a lot of those runs have come over the past month. In his last 2 starts he has a 7.45 ERA and over his last 5 starts he has a 6.08 ERA.
He's almost certainly having the worst stretch in his young career but he's also pitched more innings than he has before - 195ip and counting. Last year he only had 36ip in the shortened season and the year before he had 182ip. In that year he posted a 4.50 ERA in his 5 September starts. Whether that's coincidence or if it's accumulated fatigue is hard to say.
I'm still confident in him to show up in the postseason and deliver at the very least a quality start, if not his typical dominant performance.

Edit: I agree with Cutheon, they should skip his next start to give him some rest.

I don’t care as much about the division now because it feels like the Giants have it. I can’t even be mad. It’s hard to catch a team that won 150 games (seems that way anyway).

Baseball in Colorado is a clown show.

Why do we need baseball in Colorado?

Urias, Buehler and Scherzer got hit hard.

Agree. He’s easily our number 3 right now, if not number 4.

Such a disappointment of late

Anybody still confident about him in the playoffs? I’m not.

I’m afraid we’re going to keep pushing him and ignoring his recent struggles (we used a similar plan with Bellinger).

If we can win today and SF loses, that brings us back to where we were, which is 1 game back.

Not bad and definitely a possibility.

Logan Webb finally struggling?

Giants have been 16-1 in his last 17 starts (if I counted correctly).

SD: 4
SF: 0

1st inning

Webb on the ropes approaching a 40 pitch inning.

None, whatsoever, for me.

Watching him implode in the biggest game of the year in SF and then last night in Colorado after we spotted him a 3-0 lead sealed it with me.

I'm confident with a one game at home with Scherzer going. I'd honestly then go with Urias and Kershaw as our number 2 and 3 over Buehler, unless he can show he can turn it around in the next 2 weeks.

Webb just had a 45 pitch 1st inning. Bullpen game coming up for SF. This is great because there are no more off days.

Wow, St Louis was down 5-1 to Mil and now have tied it up 5-5. That team is going for a sweep of Mil and something like their 13th straight win? Amazing.

Seager's really heating up. Shades of last year. Hopefully he can carry us in this postseason.

Gavin Lux is for reals. He might have forced his way onto the playoff starting lineup (over Bellinger and Taylor)?

LF: Lux
CF: Pollock
RF: Betts

Do they do that? He's in CF today but I can't see that in the playoffs.

------------

Col: 5
Dodgers: 3

yeah, baseball in Colorado is silly. I dread going to Colorado every year. No matter who they have on the roster, something bad always happens in this silly altitude.

So stupid to play baseball in Colorado. We're just unlucky to have them in our division.

Of course man. We all know they're going to come back and win.

That team just has that 'it' factor this year that they know they're never out of it and can, and most likely will, win no matter how many runs they're down.

The Dodgers, on the other hand. they seem to just give up when down early, even if it's a run or two.

Off the top of my head, how many times have we rallied to win this year? I'm sure we have done it, but it definitely doesn't seem like much.

Can't blame the park man.

The Giants went in a few weeks back and swept them. They're going in for the weekend as well and will likely sweep again.

It's not the park...it's the players.

Yeah, if you want to argue that baseball is normal in Colorado, ok...

Lol, I get it's not normal.

But why aren't our guys hitting rockets out of the park then?

Why is Max walking the pitcher?

Eventually this team just needs to nut up. It's not like they've never played in this park before.

I don't know, Scherzer's been fantastic for us. I don't know if the issue today is he forgot to "nut up".

But, weird stuff does happen in Colorado, even if you're "well nutted".

I think it's more he was due for a 'stinker' after being amazing in his first 9 starts for us.

The 'nutting' up was more about the rest of the team than Max, who's nuts are never really an issue
