Wade, he is probably a top 3 SG all time behind MJ and Kobe. I would say in the Heat’s first title that Lebron was the sidekick.
2012 Stats:
LeBron:
Reg Season:
27 PPG, 8 TRB, 6 AST, 2 STL on 53% FG
Playoffs:
30 PPG, 10 TRB, 6 AST, 2 STL on 50% FG
Finals:
29 PPG, 10 TRB, 7 AST, 2 STL on 47% FG
Wade:
Reg Season:
22 PPG, 5 TRB, 5 AST, 2 STL on 50% FG
Playoffs:
23 PPG, 5 TRB, 4 AST, 2 STL on 46% FG
Finals:
23 PPG, 6 TRB, 5 AST on 44% FG
This narrative was pushed by Jay Williams when he called LeBron "Scottie Pippen" to Wade's "MJ." I think many people are confusing 2011 with 2012. In 2011, LeBron was definitely timid and disappeared in the Finals. 2012 was Lebron's first monster year, and Wade was already showing signs of decline.
Wade closed a lot of games and got them over the hump many times the year they lost and the first year they won. These were years where without Wade being the Jordan in those moments the Heat don’t win. After that? Wade fell off a cliff/James just took sole control. It was a bit of both at the same time. What’s really not talked about enough is the last 2 years Wade was barely worthy of even being the Pippen. It was a massive decline and ultimately the reason I think Lebron wanted to bounce.
The first two years was definitely more of a wade doing the heavy lifting ala Kobe in those tough WC series meanwhile Shaq/Lebron is getting all the accolades and credit due to having better stats. Wade was the clear closer and without him Miami may have completely crumbled. After that? Almost became a burden.
I also think Bosh sacrificed a lot and was a monster for them, specifically in that second year. He doesn’t get enough credit either.
So you think Wade was better in 2012 than LeBron? Would you characterize LeBron as the "Scottie Pippen" to Wade's "MJ"? Ray Allen had some clutch shots on the Heat and Celtics too, but he was never considered the best player on either of those teams.
I wouldn’t refer to Lebron as Pippen but for a couple of years it was Wade’s team. Lebron eventually took over.
You literally referred to him as a "sidekick"... If that's not referring to him as a "Pippen" I don't know what is. It's OK. You're allowed to admit you were wrong and walk it back, if your pride allows it...

AD shows the great potential, attitude and fit to become LeBron's best-ever sidekick. Actual accomplishments count more for me and it's early returns with this duo.
Wade, for now. _________________ “These GOAT discussions are fun distractions while sitting around waiting for the pizza to be served.”

Obviously you do not know. At what point did Pippen become synonymous with “sidekick”? One of the 50 GOAT players. What a stupid comparison, I guess you think that Kobe was Shaq’s “sidekick”? Just a total lack of understanding of the game. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
AD is there really another choice? D Wade was past peak and even in his peak, I am not sure he puts up these numbers. AD/LBJ are such a good mix for what they like to do. AD can play inside, can stretch the floor great rim protector. I mean of the other guys listed, who is both first team defense and offense? No contest here.
If things don't work out in NJ with Durant, I would welcome Kyrie to join the lakers as AD sidekick. We need an elite guard post Lebron.
Injury prone PG who plays no defense. How well will his game age into his 30s? _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
