Mayfield's using ODB more. I didn't think he was looking for him until last week. Baker's on a mission. He wants to disprove his doubters, me being one.

Buc victory may have had a terrible cost. OJ Howard has an Achilles injury.

update: Achilles has ruptured, OJ is gone for the season.

They’ve had a very easy schedule.

Yes, but they are showing improvement week to week. That being said, they still have a long ways to go. Communications problems remain on offense as receivers are not where they should be. Today was a strange, the Bucs secondary was exposed by Herbert and some of the defensive playcalls were poor. On offense, there's still confusion at times on the OL though they seem to be making incremental improvements. What was impressive is that they rallied back after being down 17.

The team is a work in progress. It's hard integrating a new QB without the benefit of any extended camp or preseason games. It's tough to make a call on how good or bad this team will be, at least for now.

Golden Tate punching Jalen Ramsey after the game is the only interesting thing about that Rams/Giants game.

At least Herbert looks great. At least until Lynn sends him back to the bench for Tyrod.

I was impressed. When Tyrod returns, they need to phase-in Herbert as the season progresses. He was sharp yesterday, the Bucs dared him to throw early and they paid the price. They were better at shutting him down in the second half, once they realized that Herbert was the real deal (in other words, don't do stupid stuff like blitz cover zero when Herbert has mobility, throws well on the run, and pocket presence). He has good future.

Without a competent QB, the Pats offense is going nowhere.

That last play of the half by Hoyer was one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen on a football field, given the game situation. I can't even fathom how something like that happens.

Todd Gurley looking good. He still has good speed when he gets outside. Busted some tackles for about a 7 yard TD run.

I don't think he looks explosive at all, but he has some power and I'll give him this: he's always had a nose for the end zone. The anti-Julio Jones lol.

Cam Newton being out ruined the Patriots game for me. Of course Mahomes will beat a team with a backup qb. I’m really curious to see how the Pats do with Newton instead of Brady and playing the Chiefs was supposed to be a good test.

Also the Bills FINALLY giving New England some competition in the division is something we haven’t seen in forever. Usually the Bills, Dolphins and Jets just roll over for New England every year.

I had that game on my calendar. I'm following Cam. I hope he succeeds.

All it took was Tom Brady to leave the division and his replacement to come down with a deadly disease. But yes, Buffalo is finally going to win the division this year.

Not ready to say that yet. Buffalo's defense has actually shown some leaks this season, although the offense has taken a major step up, of course.

Major news this morning. Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for COVID-19, which obviously brings up major ramifications as it relates to the Patriots and Chiefs. You'd have to think that other Patriots are probably positive, not just Cam and Gilmore, and this also means that Gilmore was obviously infected when the Patriots played the Chiefs Monday night. So now you have a situation where you probably have other Patriots who are positive, and it's quite possible that now Kansas City could have an outbreak.

That's not all. Another Titans player has tested positive as well. The Titans were going to re-open their facility today if there were no new positive cases, but obviously that can't happen now. What is the league going to do, give them two consecutive weeks off?

It's officially the fall, and another COVID spike is coming. I wonder if the league shouldn't just press pause on the season for a few weeks and come back in some sort of a bubble arrangement.
