The rockets had so many laughably open three point attempts in game 1, many of which they missed. We have to be a fundamentally better team all around tonight.

Not surprising. Gotta get him in early if you want him to do a potential G6 or G7. NBA is quite predictable sometimes.

I watched the Clippers Nuggets game yesterday and I saw them use Jokic against the Clippers small ball lineup beautifully. Every time the Clippers got on a run, they go back to that and it answered the clippers runs.

Lakers are going to have to find a way to get Davis the ball and use his size and frequently. There is no way Tucker should be able to guard him.

Need to change defensive scheme against Harden. You have to be able to change coverage to get him guessing. If you just let him go right all the time, he will be scoring at the basket at will or kick out to shooters. Definitely don’t double team him off corner. I will also try AD on him to see if length bothers him. You just can’t have him scoring a whole bunch and also letting him setup others.

3 point shooting and 3 point defense is the key for Lakers. If we don't start making 3s we are done.

Math is simple and it works in favor of the team that makes 3s. If Rockets make 15 3s on 45 attempts at their usual efficiency at 35%(around season average) that gives them 45 points.
For Lakers to match that they need to hit 50fg% if the don't attempt any 3s.
McGee and Dwight can't shoot or defend 3s and Rockets wwill be happy to trade 2s for 3s if we go big.
So we will go small again AD at 5.
That means Green and KCP must make 3s or we are done.

For as much as the Lakers get screwed with calls (including in home games at Staples), i have no problem with Foster reffing tonight Now, the beard flops will not be rewarded.

Yeah I don’t think there is any secret that the NBA badly needs the Lakers and/or Celtics this year. Otherwise it will probably be the lowest rated finals ever.

Hey, I'll take all the help we can get. Haha!

So why didn't D12 beat the crap out of PJ again? I turned the game off in the 3rd. Wife wanted to watch pride and prejudice... Again.

I mean PJ is strong... But he ain't Dwight strong. Or tall.

We'll never defeat Houston in a 7 games series trying to beat them at their own game. We don't have the shooting for that.

Our best bet is to stay big. Make the Rockets take lower percentage 3s by clogging the lane and take advantage of our height to get offensive rebounds, lobs, and second chance opportunities. Force the Rockets to foul our bigs and drives so they get in foul trouble early to keep their rotations out of sync as well as get us in the bonus for easy free throw opportunities.

I know Rondo only played so much last night because Caruso was in foul trouble the whole game but he really should only be playing when LeBron is resting.

We clog the line means that Rocket will have someone open at 3p line. How is that lower percentage 3?

TONIGHT’S REFS

Which - if comments are to be believed- is to our benefit (?) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Per Jonathan Faigen

Officials for Rockets-Lakers, 7:30 p.m.: Scott Foster, Josh Tiven,Curtis Blair. Alternate: Michael Smith. I know what you're thinking. Josh Tiven enjoys Seinfeld reruns and lasagna

(comments make it sound like there’s something going on with the Rockets and Scott Foster. But given that it’s Rockets fans crying that’s probably not actually the case.)

Jay Williams with a great segment on Rondo being a liability/being more beneficial to the Rockets than the Lakers.

I’d take all the threes at 35% clips than layups and foul shots. Remember 35% is generous for the Rockets from the 3 pt line. They are a volume 3 pt shooting team, definitely not the most accurate.

Line Up

Per Haynes

Los Angeles Lakers plan to go with their usual starting lineup in Game 2 tonight against the Houston Rockets, league sources tell Yahoo Sports.

Our best lineup actually had McGee in it. Dwight looked useless, especially if he’s going to allow himself to be boxed out by 6’5 Tucker. At least tap the ball back. Less Rondo. Give Kieff more minutes if Kuz doesn’t have it. Kuz needs a short leash.

Do you really believe that? I hope you’re right. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rondo got those minutes regardless. He should only be in when Bron is on the bench.

Even dreamshake knows we will win this series. The Lakers will feed off your doubt tonight and win by double digits. For the millionth time i will watch half of the doubters do the bipolar shuffle and the other half disappear until the next loss.

Let's go Lakers!

SAS, Jaylen, and Jay Will already criticizing Vogel’s rotations from last games, and I agree, it’s just common sense.

I remember reading a stat from game 7 of their last series that the rockets had lost 7 playoff games in a row with Foster. And that they had made comments to the league that he shouldn’t be doing their games anymore. With how bad Foster already is, I’m sure that makes him extra vindictive.
