Westbrook might not be available for start of playoffs. OKC will win games if he doesn't play

2) No advantage being No 1 seed.
3) we are too old as a team and this playoffs with just 1 day gap going to kill us.
4) In a league that is going in the direction of 3 point shooting and free throw shooting, we have neither. If opponents shoot 40% from 3, we need to shoot 60% from 2 to stay with them.
5) we have so many match up problems.
6) We can't win a single game if lebron or AD has an off day.
7) we don't have players that can draw fouls or flop ( except Caruso).

I have Houston winning because I think they have too much shooting for OKC. However, it would not shock me if OKC won. This will not be easy for Houston.

I’m assuming CP3 will avoid injury and I expect SGA to show out.

It’s going 6 or 7. If it goes 7...pressure on Harden and MDA.

UPDATED!!

Here is the current seeding (updated 8/12 EOD):

1. Lakers 52-18
2. Clippers 48-23 (will stay 2nd)
3. Nuggets 46-26 (will stay 3rd)
4. OKC 44-27 (vs. LAC)
5. Rockets 44-27 (vs. Phi)
6. Jazz 43-28 (will stay 6th)
7. Mavs 42-31 (will stay 7th)
8. Blazers 34-39 (vs. Bkn)

9. Grizzlies 33-39 (0.5 gb) (vs. Mil)
10. Suns 33-39 (0.5 gb) (vs. Dal)
11. Spurs 32-38 (0.5 gb) (vs. Jazz)
12. Pelicans (out)
13. Kings (out)

Per Mike Trudell:

If POR wins, they’re No. 8 for play-in.
MEM has tiebreaker over PHX if both win.
SAS needs a win + 2 of other 3 to lose.

So PHX has a chance to sweep the seeding games, and still won't qualify?

Is this the first time ever that Popovich will miss the playoffs?

To be honest, the team that I fear the most right now are the Suns. If they enter in the playoffs they will be extramotivated and they may cause us more problems than the Blazers who do not have any defense and CJ is injured.

The best case scenario would be a Memphis-Spurs play-in of course.

Nope, he tanked in 96-97 to get Tim Duncan.

That's the first and only time he missed the playoffs, so far

Exactly. Memphis definitely don't deserve to go to the play-in

I think Memphis' pre-bubble play (along with the other teams' pre-bubble play) say they do deserve to get in.

Same. 60+ games more than earned it. They put a young team in the bubble and gave them a brutal schedule to try and get Zion in.

If Blazers lose tonight, are they still guaranteed a play-in game? (Assuming Memphis and Phoenix win their games).

Blazers can still make it if 2 of the other 4 lose.

I'm not scared of Portlandia.
Guess what the Lakers are gonna do in the crunch?

LeBron handles. Gets Dame to switch onto him.
Punish him like he did Lou Will.
On defense, trap and make the other guys make plays.

I'm not scared at all. They need Dame to go crazy for them to have a chance to win. He's not scoring 50+ in the playoffs regularly

Harden and the Rockets publicly wanted GS at their peak. They failed but wanted the smoke. I don't think Harden is sweating having to play CP3. He already beat him in the playoffs anyway.

Me either. With that being said, I don't think we are talented enough and Harden seems to get down on himself when things go bad. Dude needs a sports shrink or something. Maybe call up whoever Artest used.

The league certainly shafted the Grizzlies with this odd manipulation of the standings by creating a play-in scenario.

Was interesting that there was so little criticism of the format. As it obviously was an attempt to get rid of those pesky Grizz. If I’m a Grizzlies fan I would be upset when they miss the playoffs due to the the strategy.

As a fan it will make for a more entertaining series for the Lakers but the dismissing of the hard work and results of the Grizzlies season up to that point is kind of ridiculous. It seems to be working just as they planned though.
