The only correct answer is call in a bomb threat on Kobe's helicopter. Maybe that scares the Bryants enough that they just drive to the camp that morning.

The real answer is logistically not much in 30 seconds from my bed.
Can I buy lotto from the bed? Best I can do is check lotto from my bed.
Next best thing is have a printout or screenshot and send it to myself or print off and put in secure place so my past self can use the info like Marty McFly.
All I can do is just write down whatever I know in my head that can either win money or save someone's life.
The save Kobe scenario has to be done from some vpn or burner phone.
All the other fun things, not much in 30 seconds.
Most likely I'd just roll back into bed trying to wake myself up and those 30 seconds would be over.

The bomb threat on Kobe's helicopter idea would be calling and saying "I heard someone say they put a bomb on it".
Not, "I put a bomb on it". Don't want to screw over my past self.
Just need to screw up his routine for that morning. To change up the events that occurred. Even that news getting to the pilot would probably make him fly safer, among changing other variables.

The 30 second constraint destroys anything you can do. Those of us with burner phones are either in the pharmaceutical distribution business or are married and seeing a man or woman on the side. You can't even make it to one of the few remaining payphones in less than 10 to 15 minutes. An attempt to be clever with voice-over-IP with a fake return number and proxy would take time to investigate and then set up.
I thought about direct dial for 2 seconds. I have a 617 area code number and could feign being a disgruntled Celtics fan. Even with that cover, I'd give it less than 0.001% chance of changing the outcome. |
