Rank these four chains from best to worst. I actually like Carls Jr. and Jack in the Box for some reason as an alternative to In 'N Out.

For some reason I consider Carls Jr. to be "upscale" fast food, similar to In 'N Out.

Just figured I'd throw it in, but I consider Burger King and McDonald's bottom tier fast food. Carls Jr., Jack in the Box, and Wendy's I consider to be "upscale" fast food.

My dad got me into Carl's Jr. He said it made great burgers.

I like the BK Whopper, if I eat there.

I just don’t get Burger King. Who is it for? It doesn’t have the best anything. It’s not fun or decadent and if I want to have a trashy treat there’s so many better options. It exists for when you’re at an airport and it’s the only choice.

That’s what I thought.

It’s much better than the other three.

Carl’s isn’t bad, at least they flame broiler like BK.

But JITB is a sacrilege of a burger, dry and devoid of flavor.

Wendy’s is a horrible mess of tasteless juice pretending to be flavor.

I like Wendy's fries the most out of the 4.
Jack in the Box tacos are good. And I like their sourdough jack. Everything else on the menu, no thanks.

It’s basically a ripoff McDonalds. Only reason I went there as a kid is because they were giving away gold plated Pokémon cards.

When I was a VERY young they had hamburgers and cheeseburgers for a little less than a buck. Maybe like 89 cents or something. That's probably the last time I ate there when I could've gone somewhere else for a burger.

Carl’s has the Western Bacon Cheeseburger. That was a game changing burger when they introduced it. Strange, but at Jack in the Box I really like the teriyaki chicken bowl with the egg roll.

The best fast food Nachos I’ve ever eaten came from Jack in the Box in the 80’s. It was discontinued, but man I wish they’d bring them back. I’d love to know if they are as good as I remember them.

Their fish and chips were surprisingly good. Seem to be discontinued.

Carl’s Jr. probably has the best shakes of any major fast food chain besides Shake Shack.

Jack gets second place for their nasty, greasy tacos. Sober, I wouldn't touch them, but I was drawn to them like a moth to a flame late night after partying.

If you ever have to make a choice like this it's because the jack in the box most convenient to you at that moment is doing that annoying thing where they stop taking card payments for an hour, so you have to make a tactical play: go to one of those other, lesser places, or tank through the chore of visiting an ATM to get what you really want.

The Sourdough Jack is the best item on any of these menus, plus their tacos are associated with Laker victory. The Western Bacon Cheeseburger WAS a game changer but I feel like everything else on their menu is an overinflated saucy mess. Wendy’s has the best chicken sandwich. McDonalds is pretty irredeemable aside from the fries. Burger King doesn’t have a good reason to exist.

I seldom eat at fast food restaurants. I got food poisoning from a Burger King. I'd never been poisoned by food so I didn't know what it felt like. Had I known I would have gone the Ol American way and sued.

This post got me to go to Carl’s last night haha.

I think I’d put Carls 1st, JITB second based on the tacos and munchie meals, Wendy’s third, and BK fourth. BK used to be better I think. I loved the whopper and even the $1 double cheeseburgers were the best $1 burger you could get for a time, maybe 10 Years ago. But now it’s really fallen off which sucks. Wendy’s burgers with a bit more flavor and they could be #1 but it’s most just juicy within it flavor as someone else mentioned.

As for best shakes, I’d out JITB Oreo shake over any shake from Carl’s.

McDonald's though it doesn't taste as good since they started trying to take some of the delicious salty greasiness out of their food. But it's still the cheapest, that's key for me.

Worst to best:

Burger King - easily at the bottom, no saving graces. For some reason even the Whopper tastes like the diet soda version of its former self from the 90s, when it could be had for 99¢.

Jack in the Box - squarely in 3rd place. Spicy Chicken sandwich is pretty good by fast food standards. The tacos are a unique option, and pretty great once every blue moon. The curly fries are okay.

Wendy's - a big step up in quality. Best value menu, Dave's cheeseburgers are pretty good, their chicken sandwiches are pretty good, their regular fries are the best of the group, and the frosty is the only dessert I'd pay for at any fast food establishment.

Carl's Jr - first place by a hair (though hopefully not in your meal ). The charbroiled patty and array of unique options nudges their burgers into the top spot. Their regular fries are pretty good but the crisscut fries are the best side of the group, and the fried zucchini aren't far behind. Chicken options are all pretty good. Breakfast burritos are pretty good and the breakfast burger is the best breakfast item of the group.
