Interesting Woj comment that they would need to “waive” Bradley to make a roster spot. Seems like this is such a unique situation the NBA should be making special roster designations or IR assignments for players choosing not to play.

Seen similar discussions concerning these type of changes to business as usual in MLB and NFL discussions. Normal IR rules can’t apply in such odd times IMO.

Bradley choosing not to play is a disappointing from a B-ball standpoint but hard to criticize too harshly with current situation. Will be interesting to see how many other players and from which teams will also choose not to play. Balance of power could shift multiple times depending on those announcements.

JR somehow being the answer as a replacement is downright discouraging though!

Do we really need to replace Avery? We already have Dion Waiters. There’s only 48 mins to spread around and in the playoffs I don’t see us using more than 9 man roster. Right now we have an 11 man playable roster.

Maybe we should find a replacement just in case someone breaks the rules or gets sick but still I don’t find it necessary.

KCP-Caruso-Rondo
DG-Dion
LeBron-Kuz
AD-Morris
McGee-Dwight

That’s already a playoff roster. And we still have Cook and THT who are serviceable.

I don't know if I fully trust only Dion as the back up SG. Can't imagine he's in the best shape given his history. JR's been working and he gives some much needed size at the wing.

Bradley, for grid reason I guess, quit on the season. I'd have no problem waving him for a guy who can help win a ring.

Yeah that makes sense. We know Vogel loves Rondo so I see him using a lot of Rondo and Caruso tandems like we have in the past. I see Dion playing maybe at most 15 mins while Rondo and Caruso playing at least playing 24 each.

If anything, Avery not playing gives more time for Morris to be the full time backup 4 and Kuz full time backup 3. No more KCP at backup 3.

Probably, that fits the lack of thought and imagination of this FO. Pelinka be like “whatever you want Mr. James”.

You want as a big a roster as possible because you don't know what's going to happen. Any team could lose several guys to covid in the snap of a finger.

That is an interesting question. Isn't AB on a 2-year mini-MLE? If we waive him is he gone?

Unless the Clippers lose a wing, this is just terrible news.

We'll miss AB, but I agree we still have a solid rotation for the playoffs and JR Smith or whoever they sign won't have much of an impact.

LBJ, KCP/AC, DG, Kuz and AD is a staunch five-man squad. We only need 3-4 more guys in the rotation from Dwight, Javale, AC/KCP (whoever doesn't start), Morris, Rondo, Cook, Dudley and Waiters/JR and we're in business.

The more I think about it, I’m starting Caruso and keeping KCP with the bench unit. Primary reason is Caruso is best equipped to set the tone at beginning of games for the defense, similar to AB.

Secondary, KCP’s shooting is a better fit with 2nd unit when Rondo gets some minutes.

Either way, both those guys minutes will go up, but I would start Caruso to set the AB type tone.

THT as well... But look the options aren't plentiful.

Boogie seems to not be able to play or it'd be a no brainer and FO knows his status better than anyone.

Collison seems to not want to come back but he'd be perfect.

So unless some major change happens, it looks like the best options are Lance, JR, Shumpert. I personally would go with Lance but I can understand JR for his scoring 'prowess'.

I thought we got an extra roster spot if a player elected to sit out. I wouldn't waive Bradley in order to sign JR Smith.

Trey Burke followed by Shumpert or JR Smith (whoever have best workout) would be my choice.
