What so many people failed to realize is that even if he were to somehow be healthy, he wouldn't even be a good fit for this team. People in the lounge panicking and talking about the need for a rim protector.. sorry, but that never is/was Cousins to begin with. There would be a busy Trade /Waive Cousins thread right about now if he had resigned with us, with some acting as if there was somehow a trade market for him.
Hope he has been saving money and wish him the best |

Yep. I think the lessons from this one are:
- When you tear your Achilles, quad, and ACL and you play basketball, you will never be the same player again. If you are lucky, you may look decent in practice or against subpar players for a couple of minutes or a game here and there, but asking for anything beyond that is too much and quite frankly, unfair to ask of somebody who has been through all of that, but some just have unreal expectations. Injuries have a real effect, it’s not like these guys are just rolling out of bed and playing basketball or something.
- You cannot just look in a stat sheet and assume that 18ppg on one team equals 18ppg on a different team. Players have roles to play on different teams. Just because Dennis Shroder or Montreal Harrell averaged 18ppg on some other team doesn’t mean they will be 18ppg guys on our team, and there are a multitude of reasons for that that are beyond surface level. If we added a 22PPG dude from a bad team tomorrow, just don’t be surprised if he doesn’t produce 22ppg for us. If you must insist on referring to stats, more like 15-17ppg maybe.
Those things may seem like common sense, but hopefully it actually is common sense after going through this. |

In fairness though it's tough to judge a guy in his first month back from injury.
After looking completing done for the first month of the season Cousins has put up two really solid games in extended minutes.
28/17/5 in 9-15 and then 19/11/5/2/1 on 6-11 in wins over Dallas and Washington.
The thing with him and the reason people wanted to take a chance is he was only going to cost you the league minimum. And he may have been dead weight... But he also could find his legs, and become an absolute steal.
Time will tell. |

He's not going to be an absolute steal.. He can't play defense. Nor has it ever been his thing. And that's what we need at the center position. |
