Another comedy legend lost this week. May he RIP.

Like Jerry Stiller, he could just make me laugh by showing up on screen. A guy who was an MVP at maximizing laughs per screentime:

And a great deep dive into what made Willard so special looking at one of his most iconic performances as Buck Laughlin in Best in Show: https://thedissolve.com/news/4777-in-best-in-show-fred-willard-gets-inside-the-brain/

He stole the show, and that is saying something, in Best in Show.

Very sad. He is on my wife’s new show and was his typical amazingly funny self. She’s quite saddened. Says he was her favorite part of doing the show and that he was a sweet and gracious man, and of course freaking hilarious.

Given his frail appearance on Modern Family during its final season playing Phil's father, and given that he lost his wife of 50 years back in 2018, I guess it's not a huge surprise that he died. Obviously, he appeared in so many different shows and movies, and I really enjoyed his turn on Everybody Loves Raymond. He and Georgia Engel were fantastic as Amy's parents.

May he RIP.

Oh damn, that's right, he's in that. Makes it even more of a must-see. I'm sorry for this loss even more now, in light of the personal connection to your wife.

Came on just to express my admiration for the guy. Very sad. He was great on norm macdonald's podcast if anyone wants to relive some of his greats.

I can't remember the last time I was NOT entertained by him.

Can't wait to see him in Space Force, which looks phenomenal btw.

WTF? I don't know why this surprises me given his age and appearance lately but it does.

He always gave a good performance and seems to have been in everything.

The Modern Family episode where he passed away is even sadder now.

May he RIP.

Wait he was 86!? I would have figured he was in his late 60s...early 70s tops.

Yeah, up until recently (because he looked so frail near the end), you wouldn't have known he was 86. In fact, his Wikipedia page said he was 80 before today, and when news of his death first broke, I saw some outlets report that he died at 80. But then most outlets started reporting his actual age of 86, and then Wikipedia changed his birthday to 6 years earlier. In any case, yeah, he always seemed to be younger.
