They said Goff expects to play next week, but damn...I want Wolford. His throws look great, wayyyy more athletic / can rush, and actually has pocket awareness (can avoid tackles...or at least can avoid fumbles). |

Ugly game but Wolford and the offense are moving down the field and getting field goals and putting enough distance between them and the Cardinals to get that playoff spot. |

I'd roll with Wolford too. But if Goff can go there's no way McVay sits him. If anything, maybe the backup breathing down his neck will light a fire under his ass.
On another note, Ramsey is so f good.
Blocked fg...nice. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

Huge FG block. Rams still up 11. Looking good now. |

Despite some early mistakes, Wolford has rebounded nicely. I love his ability to sense and escape the pass rush. He is better at reading the defense than Goff and I love his fearlessness. He is not afraid to get hit.
He needs more chemistry with the receivers to work on the timing and the redzone offense needs to vastly improve as well.
However, with key players out on offense, I am happy with his performance so far. |

Ok, I'm really liking Wolford. I know it's just one game but dude is tough as nails. His mobility alone adds such a cool new wrinkle. Even his throws have impressed me. As mentioned, more reps with the receiving core would be welcomed.
We in the playoffs. _________________ The butter's hard and the eggs are chillin' in the dark.

Cards only score was the early INT from the young QB. For somebody who got thrown into the deep end, he's played pretty calm and made good football plays. |

Final from Glendale: Seahawks 26, 49ers 23. Seattle is the NFC's No. 3 seed and will host the No. 6-seed Rams next weekend at Lumen Field. They split the regular-season series.

That's honestly the best matchup we could have hoped for. You could argue we could have beaten them even last week, if not for some boneheaded plays and turnovers. |

Wohlford or Goff vs. Seattle?
I like the fact Wohlford can run for key gains and his passing was adequate, he missed on a few throws but overall a very respectable debut.
Goff of course is your franchise guy and has the experience but I think this isn't cut and dried. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I have to favor Seattle because of the massive QB advantage they have, but the Rams do match up well with them other than that. It's a shame that the Rams QB situation is so crappy, because all of the other pieces are there for a championship contender. |

The game is at 1:40 pm on Fox. I'm not very optimistic about our offense. The defense can only do so much. Let's hope for the best! _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold. |

misterchipmunk wrote: | Goff has always needed perfect protection and wide open receivers to truly flourish. Not to say he can't thread the needle, he truly has some of the most arm talent I have ever seen with a perfect pocket. The problem has always been his baffling decision-making and inaccuracy under pressure. He looked elite in the first 10 games of 2018 because he had some of the most open windows to throw the ball to and the best protection he's had in his career. After the book got out on how to defend the McVay scheme better, his weaknesses were massively exposed. I truly don't get how people don't see this. It's time we realize that he isn't going to elevate the team to the next level. And even at that rate, he doesn't have to elevate us with this defense. He just needs to be a game manager that limits turnovers, and he can't even do that. The interception yesterday should be the nail in his coffin as QB here. Truly one of the most baffling decisions I have ever seen, and it completely swung the momentum of the game in the Seahawks' favor. Hopefully losing the division with this defense will help the front office realize that he isn't the answer.
McVay’s genius combined with Les Snead’s roster upgrading salvaged his career, but now that it’s finally time for him to do his part; he’s inexplicably buckled under the pressure. What other QB can boast they have a great coach, a solid offensive line, an up and coming running game, terrific weapons to surround him, consistency on special teams (although this is recent after signing Gay), and a top 3 defense?
It’s really a testament to how good the rest of this team is, in spite of Goff.
The Rams really need to go in a different direction in 2021. They’ve built a Super Bowl caliber team, it’d be a shame to waste it. |
Your assessment of Goff sounds exactly what I said about Goff prior to the 2016 draft. I had him placed as a late first round talent, though I mentioned that marginal QBs always move up the board by QB-hungry teams. For a frame of reference, I had Wentz (for better or for worse) as a early first round talent (and he was exactly that, prior to the deterioration).
Goff is not a fast processing QB, and like most slower processing QBs, the problem is magnified under pressure. He was never that good at reading defenses, and though he has improved, it is still a deficiency. He also doesn't show anticipation on his throws. As a result, he really needs a quality offensive line which buys him time, speedy outside receivers who might provide enough separation for him to see it clearly, and a quick-twitch, smart quality slot like Cooper Kupp.. |

Rams defense is playing well, but you have to put some more points on them now. I’d this remains a close game into the 4th qtr then Seahawks has a better chance of winning it. |

3rd and 2 and McVay thinks he's Frank Reich and calls an RPO with a statue of a QB. What the hell is wrong with these coaches? The defense is not going to honor the possibility of the QB keeping the ball when it's a statue that's the QB, particularly a statue who has a broken thumb and shouldn't be carrying the ball in heavy traffic.
Just awful play-calling, it really is. |
