Saw some YouTube workout videos with Phil handy before bucks game, Dion waiters looks out of shape and shot looked horrible.
Not sure he will be a contributor for a while. I expect a good 1 or 2 playoff games where he might come good for a few min, but not much else |

Quote: | Frank Vogel says “it’s probably going to be a few games” before Dion Waiters gets in for the Lakers. Mentions that he didn’t play much with Miami this season so he needs sometime. So no Dion on Sunday against the Clippers. |

Kind of what I was expecting. After the Utah games there will be tons of games for him to get back into game shape as we'll hopefully have that 1 seed pretty much locked up. Seeing him and hopefully THT late in the season could make some of those games much more watchable to see how they do.
I have a feeling none of the big guns are going to play in that final Clippers game but that could still be a great one for him to get some hopefully solid minutes against there second unit which he would be mostly facing in the Playoffs anyways. |

This. Even if he gets playoff ready, he will only see some minutes if there is a foul trouble by our rotation guys. |

Watched some highlight vids of Waiters online to compare and contrast with the recent vid from before yesterday’s game, and yeah, he’s put on quite a few pounds. Troy Daniels minutes for Waiters as the 11th or 12th man is fine, but I’m not expecting him to contribute much, if anything, this season or post season. At best I think we can maybe hope that once every four games he comes in for a couple minutes and hits a shot or two while Lebron is off the floor and we desperately need someone who can create their own shot, and the rest of the time he doesn’t hurt us too badly in his very limited minutes since Vogel will have a quick hook for him as a “break glass in case of emergency” player. I hope he surprises me and does well for us, but it’s hard for me to imagine a dude who takes his craft so lightly as to let himself get pthat out of shape when he’s supposedly desperate to prove himself should be taken seriously.
Dwight Howard kept himself in tip top shape, changed his diet, and worked like hell to prove himself. Waiters looks like he spent his time off eating while occasionally shooting around in the gym as “training”. |

Dion Waiters as always looked a little chunky. Not sure I see the extra pounds other people are mentioning. |

I think Vogel is going to wait for a Rondo or Caruso injury before he plays Waiters. |

Why sign him if you're not going to play him... That's just Dumb!
He's a professional, rather he played or not, he's ready, this is what he does. |

Happy to have him wait a few games while he gets some reps in, before being unleashed on some easier teams. Will give him the best opportunity to perform to the top of his ability in the playoffs if we need him there
He was never going to be much more than a 3rd string guy anyway IMO, anything more is a pleasant surprise _________________ #18 next... |

I highly doubt that he is ready to play many minutes. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

Waiters just needed some acclimation and a few days film session. Pretty sure he will be running scrimmages and jump in next game mid 3Q. Hell of a signing, almost tailored to our needs ATM. Rondo might see less burn, but he can strategize with Kidd and Vogel... prepping the old vet for the next step in his career as a coach. _________________ DEAR BASKETBALL |

There's no way in hell he was going to wet his feet against the Bucks or the Clippers
We have a string of easy games coming up and 8 games in 12 days to finish the season where he'll be needed to play big minutes |

My guess is they just signed him as an insurance policy, low-risk gamble rather than as someone they have penciled into the rotation |

Absolutely, some end of the bench depth that could possibly be very potent if given the chance. It also gives the coaching staff and front office a nice long stretch to see if he's worth signing next season for a very cheap prove it deal. I mean he's taking Troy Daniels spot who pretty much never played anyways so might as well add someone who has an extremely higher potential and can play both ends of the floor if needed. |

If he does Lakers will just cut him. But I guess that Rich Paul has already warned him about not (bleep) this up. |

I doubt he can mess this up. Lebron and crew just crushed it this weekend. Either he gets on board or he is out. |

Can't wait to see him out there. Some stagnant moments for us when LBJ sits and we have no perimeter creator. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Maybe that mentality is the problem. Maybe the people in that neighborhood need to take a long look in the mirror and ask themselves why they do what they do, and why they keep expecting someone else to clean up their mess. If you change that mentality, you've solved the problem. |

Not to completely derail this thread, but maybe you should do some research before posting on this topic. Here’s a good place to start: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarcity:_Why_Having_Too_Little_Means_So_Much |

Jay Williams just said if Dion comes with the right mindset, he's the best player that got picked up, even over Marcus and Reggie Jackson from the Clippers. _________________ Tacos |

I agree with this...can't wait to see him against the Nets.
Would love to see Bron get that game off. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."
