Time to take Kershaw out. He's getting battered around. Glad to see he's ready for the playoffs.....

8 hits and 2HR in 3.1ip? Man...

Mike Trout hit his first career home run against Clayton Kershaw. He was 2-for-17 with one extra-base hit against him going into that at-bat.

Don't count our chickens before they hatch. Never know, he might end up getting one with his new team.

The obvious joke: Kershaw is in postseason form early.

Just hope he got a bad start out of the way before next week. But we've seen this movie before.

Quote:
Dinelson Lamet, Wil Myers Leave Game Early

Padres right-hander Dinelson Lamet and outfielder Wil Myers left the team’s game against the Giants on Friday for undisclosed reasons, Dennis Lin of The Athletic tweets.

Lamet’s the second key Padres starter who may have suffered a key injury in the past few days, joining fellow righty Mike Clevinger. The Padres seem likely to go without Clevinger for at least the first round of the playoffs because of a sprained elbow. Therefore, they can ill afford to lose Lamet, who has been a Cy Young-level starter this season. The 28-year-old entered Friday with a 2.07 ERA/2.51 FIP across 65 1/3 innings.

While Lamet has been one of the Padres’ best pitchers, Myers has emerged as one of their top hitters. After three straight disappointing seasons, Myers has rebounded in a big way with a .285/.352/.591 slash and 14 home runs in 213 plate appearances this year. He, like Lamet, is among the reasons the Padres broke a 13-year playoff drought this season. But now it seems the Padres are in danger of entering the postseason without Lamet, Myers and Clevinger, so they won’t be at full strength when the playoffs commence.

4th straight year Kershaw’s entering the playoffs being a little off in September.

His last 4 starts he hasn’t been as sharp as he was at the start of the year.

Half of his cutters in that inning were under 90. I don't know how anyone can watch him and think that we're in good hands in the postseason.

I didn’t mean to crown us already, I guess I should have split up that thought into two sentences lol. I’m still worried about the fact that we could have 2 bad games and that’s the season for us. Hope not though.

I caught the beginning of tonight’s game but once I saw him give up b2b hits to open up the game my excitement left and I went back to the ECF. I feel like that leadoff double would have been an out if JT wasn’t at 3rd. Am i just being too harsh on him or is that a fair assertion?

It wasn’t a good start but he was definitely coasting. Lot of 90 and 91s. Not going to judge his great season off his last start.

42 Wins = For Jackie 😊

Not sure what to make of these glorified exhibition games since we clinched. Our starting pitching, the top 3 guys got hit around or have blister concerns. More faith in the offense to produce in the clutch that then our starting pitching going deep into games or our back end of the pen giving games away.

At least the Giants are folding! Bring on the Brew Crew!

Phillies
St Louis
Giants
Brewers

Give me the Phillies (Phillies losing 4-0, so they probably get eliminated)

Right now it’s looking like SF or Milwaukee. We’ll know soon enough as both teams are losing right now.

Starting to look like it’ll be Milwaukee

————————-

Let’s see what the playoff lineup is. We really need to go with the dudes who have produced all year. That includes:

1) Betts (RF)
2) Seager (SS)
3) Turner (3B)
4) Pollock (LF)
5) Smith (C)
6) Taylor (2B)

These 6 should be in the lineup everyday.

That leaves CF, 1B

CF: Bellinger
1B: Muncy (but dude’s had a down year. I really don’t want to see Muncy batting high in the lineup for the playoffs until he gets hot)

Awwww, nobody wants to play us!

Looking like Brewers by process of elimination will be our challenger in the best of 3.

Always great to see the Giants folding, they would give us the toughest time. Phillies are an enigma with Harper but they are gonna tap out also today.

Not so fast

Giants closing the gap on the Padres: (4-5)

Bottom of the 8th, Giants have 6 outs left. I doubt Padres will be using any of their good arms.

Yup, pretty much the way they set up the rotation.

Now who goes game 3? (Hopefully not necessary)

3 outs left!

Forget the rivalries just want the best matchups let alone the humiliation should we choke to those asshats.

Just like I prefer the HEAT not the Celtics for the Lakers don't want the Giants to even sniff the postseason given their recent history.

I just saw the schedule, and I feel like someone was not very smart.....the Dodgers are scheduled at the same time as the Lakers are playing in Game 1 of the Finals.

Brewers @ Dodgers - Wednesday @ 10 PM ET
Heat @ Lakers - Wednesday @ 9 PM ET

The Marlins play earlier in the day on Wednesday.

That entire organization has been lost at sea for a while. How they could waste the talent of Mike Trout boggles the mind.

My nightmare scenario if the Dodgers lose Game 1: asking Clayton Kershaw to save our season. I've seen that movie before, and it usually ends badly.

As I mentioned weeks ago, I would have preferred him to start the first game, where there's less pressure. There's no way either guy could start again in the series, so that's how I would have done it. I just hope it works out.
