I could be wrong but I’d be surprised if Russell Martin decides to come back for $100k.

As with players in any sport, their lives become a routine and when they have done it for 10, 20 30 years of their life, money become secondary to the comradery they miss and suddenly sitting at home, listening to the wife nag makes keeping it going another year or two seem worth it...

#Dodgers bullpen through the first 10 games:

Scott Alexander: 0.00 ERA
Caleb Ferguson: 0.00 ERA
Dylan Floro: 0.00 ERA
Kenley Jansen: 0.00 ERA
Joe Kelly: 0.00 ERA
Adam Kolarek: 0.00 ERA
Jake McGee: 0.00 ERA
Blake Treinen: 0.00 ERA
Pedro Baez: 1.59 ERA
Brusdar Graterol: 2.08 ERA

Pretty unreal numbers from our pen. Needless to say if they keep up anything close to this pace, we'll be in great shape.

I haven’t seen Kershaw look that good and pitch so effortlessly in YEARS. It was a weird feeling because I felt nostalgic, like I was watching a classic game from a retired great...but then I realized that it was a live game. Today was a great day. Looking forward to Walker tomorrow.

We are still treated to watching one of the greatest of all time--still with the best ERA+ of any starting pitcher ever. I'm not sure if Kersh was that good or the D-Backs were that bad, but, indeed, it was a great game to watch--for a Dodger fan.

Yup, it’s been awhile since I’ve seen a dominant vintage Kershaw outing.

I honestly thought those days are behind him but if he can throw 93/93 again, then maybe he can squeak out another Cy Young award this year. How great would it be to see Kershaw get Cy Young #4?

^ I hadn’t even thought about that but that would be awesome. Just thinking about having THAT Kershaw + Buehler as a 1-2 punch in the postseason has me so ready for October.

Nice to see Kenley get a clean inning to close it out.

6-3 to start the season, feels like they should be even better record wise but they are off to a good start.

Wasn't really clean, hit the lead off man and threw 21 pitches. Also, 7-3, should be 9-1 but blame Doc for that.

Good idea to fact check my stuff! LOLZ, Go Dodgers!

FYI dodgers play tonight at 6:10 PST. Normally monday's are off, so I figured i'd do a little friendly PSA . . . Buehler v. Paddack, two hard-throwing young righties with plus-plus stuff. should be fun

Hadn't noticed this before, but why are Mondays normally off?

Not sure, quirks of scheduling I suppose.

Muncy gets behind in the count again and strikes out. I think pitchers are making an adjustment on him, knowing he likes to see a bunch of pitches and work the count. They are attacking him with early strikes and he needs to adjust back and start swinging at good pitches earlier in counts. It's not like he's swinging and missing much early in counts. He's just taking strikes.

Agreed. he's getting himself into tough spots. He jumps on a couple and knocks them around and he'll have more quality AB's.

Are cody's misses good or bad right now? to my untrained eye, i see him missing a lot of high fastballs he was crushing early last year, and yet again chasing stuff that's slow and low

Wow, amazing how it can help when you have a catcher that can hit.

Will Smith finally gets rewarded on another hard-hit ball. 3-2 LA.

Bellinger's timing is completely off on the fastball, yes. The homer he hit yesterday was on a changeup.

sheer luck with that hit sequencing, as a better manager would not have seager, beaty, and smith in any order, especially not that low

although smith's hard hit % is really incredible right now, his expected babip must be crazy compared to his avg

just briefly looking at his fangraphs, the only noticeable outlier is cody's groundball percentage, an absurdly hight 52.9%, way out of wack to his norm (35.3, 40, 31.5). clearly a result of him trying to go oppo/center more . . . his pull rate is down to 41.2 (47.9% last year), center up 3% (32.3 to 35.3), oppo up 3.7 (19.8 to 23.5). likely affecting his hard hit rate as well . . . a disappointingly low 29.4%, far down from last years 49.2. although i'm comforted by his increase in medium hit rate.

All in all seems fixable.

Buehler has now allowed 4 homers in 2 starts, none of which came on his fastball.

When he came up for the first time to hit, they showed that his expected slugging % was something like .554, as opposed to the .295 or whatever that he was actually slugging.

That was a better sign for Bellinger. Even though he just grounded out to first on a 3-2 pitch, it was a 97 MPH fastball and he turned on it and hit it hard. First hard-hit ball off a good velocity fastball that I've seen him pull all year.
