Just channel flipping on a Saturday weekend, and its interesting to see how each sport plays in the middle of a pandemic.
In the NHL all the seats are tarped off and a bunch of projectors are setup.
For the PGA championship there is nobody there except the golfers, officials and camera crew.
For PBC boxing over on FOX, it looks like they are boxing in the middle of an
empty studio and they pulled a tarp over with images of fans in their seats.

I have a great idea. There should be a giant meeting of enthusiasts for a certain hobby (I'll just randomly say, oh, motorcycle gang cosplayers). Get a couple hundred thousand of them to gather in a small town somewhere. Just a good old time. A weekend to celebrate their hobby. They can all gather there for a great time.

Here's where the genius of my plan comes together. They travel from all over the country to get to this gathering and they drive themselves there from wherever they live. After the weekend, they all drive back home. As a bonus, they're all extremely cavalier about the virus!

What could possibly go wrong?

^You're expecting more from the same group who are opposed to wearing helmets when they ride?

If they don't want to wear a helmet, that's on them. Personally I think anyone who doesn't wear a full face one is an idiot.

This on the other hand is beyond stupid and it will end up killing people who couldn't care less about juvenile dress up parties.

Coincidentally, I saw a thread a couple of days ago that was people posting photos of why they are glad they had full face helmets on when they went down . . . very compelling evidence.

Even more compelling are the photos of people who don't, but I don't recommend seeking them out.

The photo I saw of the gathering had a women who was either pregnant or very fat bellied walking across the street. If she's pregnant she was not only endangering her life but the life of the unborn. If she's just fat she's more a COVID-19 risk.

China saying their not responsible for the outbreak isn't true. Their not being responsible for the spread is suspect. IMO the US because of it's policies is very culprit in the spread of the virus. We're banned in these countries. These 33 Countries Have Banned U.S. Travelers LINK I don't have the number of countries banning China.

I don't know which country is banning china, but I can tell you there are not many chinese travelling internationally these days because of these reasons:

1. no where is safe during the global pandemic

2. entering back to china is subject to 14 day force quarantine which you are paying all the hotel and food expense out of your own pocket. That's a lot of $ for 14 days. Several countries in Asia have this policy which helps to control the virus. (we wouldn't be in this mess had we done this)

3. china is probably the safest place from the virus due to the force quarantine of the infected and contract tracing with health green/red code/apps

Infectious Disease Expert Predicts When U.S. Coronavirus Cases Will Again Explode

Michael Osterholm warned a back-to-school surge in COVID-19 “will far surpass what we saw after Memorial Day.”

Infectious disease expert Michael Osterholm on Monday contradicted President Donald Trump’s fanciful claim that the U.S. will soon be in “very good shape” with the coronavirus pandemic, instead predicting “an explosion” in new cases starting next month.

Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, told CNN’s Don Lemon that the U.S. is “just really beginning to get to the really large part of the problem” with an average of 45,000 to 50,000 new confirmed cases of the virus per day.

“When school starts both at the high school level and in college and universities, we think we’re going to see an explosion of cases in September that will far surpass what we saw after Memorial Day,” Osterholm said. “And that this is just going to continue increasing, getting higher and higher, in terms of numbers.”

Osterholm elaborated in an op-ed he wrote with Neel Kashkari, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, that was published in The New York Times on Friday. The column argued the U.S. needs another lockdown to slow the spread of the virus.

We believe the choice is clear,” Osterholm and Kashkari wrote. “We can continue to allow the coronavirus to spread rapidly throughout the country or we can commit to a more restrictive lockdown, state by state, for up to six weeks to crush the spread of the virus to less than one new case per 100,000 people per day.

Well my wife started back at work yesterday. Teachers had to report for two weeks of training and prep. Then on the 24th the students return. Her district gave parents the option of virtual, hybrid or full in person. Unfortunately over 700 of the 1500 students at her school elected either hybrid or in-person. Also she teaches language arts, which is in-person for the hybrid part. So she has to teach in-person for all her classes. She will probably have 15-25 students in each of her classes. They are enforcing mask use, but we’ll see how that even goes. We’re obviously really concerned about this, but the other choice was her quitting her job which we can’t exactly afford. With the number of students she will encounter a day it really seems more like a “when” vs an “if” coronavirus will come into our home.

So. . . everything thing is hunky dory in Florida? Right? Just Crazy Democrats stirring up fear. Right? Or at least this is what DeSantis and the other Cartman's in his party keep saying.

Worldometer shows 156 deaths so far today in Florida, shattering the record set two days ago.

Just as it appears that this pandemic mess is starting to lessen up, Florida sets a new record: 271 new deaths today according to worldometer.

As China lifts its coronavirus lockdowns, authorities are using a color-coded health system to dictate where citizens can go. Here's how it works.

Indeed. This has to be cause for many sleepless nights.

I would hope that with less than half of the school wanting in-person, that would mean that her classrooms would be less than half full. If her classes were in the 30 range before, hopefully it becomes closer to 15 now--which allows for greater social distancing.

The ideal solution is to have this with the teacher isolated in a separate environment by themselves, but that would require time and dollars, and a real community effort. If there was a real will, there would be a way.

Thanks guys. She’s in a portable so she has a smaller room than normal rooms. She was messing around with desks yesterday and at 20 desks she can only get about 4 feet between the desks. Hopefully she will end up with a lot less than that.

We're paying the price for freedom. Americans are use to freedom. Having them limited isn't going to set well.

In countries like China people are use to being told what to do so it's easier to adhered to stay at home, wear masks and social distancing.

We're paying the price for freedum and lack of leadership.

With quarters so tight I think odds are kids will start being diagnosed with COVID and school will be forced to shutdown again. That's what happened in Georgia (after kids posted pictures of crowded hallways, it was less than a week before they had to close down). So I hope the school shuts down sooner rather than later.

As we all know, there is a cost to freedom, in a general sense, but more to the point, freedom is not limitless. Normally, we don't have the freedom to harm others or to create an environment of harm.

Few really want a government that controls our lives. This is a given. But all who abuse freedom or create situations that result in harm for others, force a government response. If we did not have scumbags who don't care about what they pollute, or what harm they can create for the environment; or whose life savings they can cheat someone out of; or how they can create an unsafe work environment, or cheat workers out of a fair return for a hard day's work, we'd all have more freedom.
