To be fair, I wouldnt want to take on the added tax liabilities by gifting someone thousands of dollars. Plus, how many others would be hitting you up for cash? They are employed by the golf club. The golf club should be the ones who help them directly. |
You can gift each caddy 15k with zero tax dollars. And iirc, the caddies work for tips. _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel |

Saw an interview with Bill Gates where he laid out realistic timelines which made sense and he was pretty clear - last week of May to first week of June is the most realistic timeline based on where we are at now, and if we make the mistake of opening too soon, then we might expect to see a need to close everything down again which would then push the realistic timeline out to late July.
We all better pray this thing doesn't turn out to have seasonal resistance like the Flu,because that would put next seasons reintroduction right about election time and I don't even want to think about what these Bozos would do at that time if an election loss seemed imminent. Pushing an election off to the drop dead date of December 2nd would hurt turnout. Yeah, really trying not to think about it... _________________ I'm On point, On task, On message, and Off drugs. He will indeed take credit if the numbers are lower than expected. Then again, he will blame Obama, the press, and liberals if they are higher. |

In looking at yesterday's numbers, the US had approximately 1/3 of all the new cases in the world (19913 out of 60308). We have about 20% of all the cases. We have about 4.25% of the world's population. |

That's because the USA is testing like no other country --- with currently available data from all the states --- we have results from
856,546 people.

Tough to know what's really going on though given how few (app 0.2% of the population) have actually been tested. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

NPR
The U.S. has performed 894,000 tests as of Saturday, according to Adm. Brett Giroir, assistant secretary for health at the Department of Health and Human Services, who is leading the testing effort.
But the U.S population is around 327 million, which means about 1 in 366 people are getting tested. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Just about to post the same. Very upset. Never missed him when he was in town. When he lived in LA, he was a regular at the gas station I worked at as a teen. Super nice guy and a legend. Fingers crossed! |
His wife just sent notification through John's fan network that John's condition has been upgraded to "Stable" . . . here's hopin'! _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Horrible news hopefully it's not and everyone who was there will self-quarantine.

Someone had posted a link to a study that projected cases and deaths in each state by Q3. Does anyone recall that? |

Quote: | NEW: California has 1,432 COVID-19 positive patients in hospital beds.
597 of those patients are in ICU beds.
Over the next few weeks these numbers will increase. We’re working around the clock to get the equipment, medical staff, and beds we will need to meet this moment. |

Coronavirus May Add Billions to the Nation’s Health Care Bill
Quote: | While there are some estimates hovering around $20,000 for a hospital stay based on a typical pneumonia case, his group is estimating that the average could be closer to $72,000 for severe cases. New York State is already reporting that patients with severe cases are staying on ventilators much longer than those with pneumonia might.
How employers and insurers will ultimately react to any spike in costs is also unclear. While health care costs have historically risen by double digits in any given year, companies have been caught off guard by the dramatic change in circumstances. “It’s hard to think of anything that rivals this,” Mr. Parson said. |
Basically don't leave the house until there's a cure. Only a matter of time before the gouging and profiteering starts.

Looking at that, and how a place like Detroit and Chicago are soon to be hot spots, wonder if they are considering flying some patients to Des Moines or KC to help relieve the pressure in those areas? Iowa/Kansas/Missouri all will be under the curve per the map and have the resources to help. |

Completely agree.

any statisticians here?
it seems the % of positives are lot higher than the rest of the country?
does this suggest a huge amount of people are infected but not detected than else where? |

Workers protest at Instacart, Amazon and Whole Foods for health protections and hazard pay
Quote: |
Instacart workers held their strike in part because they say the company has failed to provide hand sanitizer, masks or disinfectant during the outbreak. On Sunday, Instacart announced that it used a third-party vendor to manufacture hand sanitizer and would begin allowing workers to order it online Monday, and start shipping next week. Workers had asked that Instacart raise the default tip setting in the app to 10 percent, up from 5 percent or less. Instead, Instacart is changing the default setting to the customer’s last tip amounts. |
I only did the pick up at the back of the store (no option to tip), and was surprised that no one was wearing a mask. |
