Digging down further, you see that 78% of Democrats say they wear a mask at all times. Just 45% of Republican answered the same way. This is a 33-point partisan gap.

This is so very easy to understand. Masks, to a large extent, protect others from the wearer far more so than protect the wearer from others. This does not fit the modern Ayn Randian Republican me-first playbook. Now if the reverse were true and masks would primarily protect the wearer, then maybe we'd see a 90ish% of Republicans wearing a mask.

What does "at all times mean?" I don't wear a mask when I walk to my commuter car and move it from street A around to street B on street sweeper days. I don't wear my mask driving to my destination either. I sure as XXXX wear it before entering my destination.

The US just officially hit the 1% mark on infected. 69% more to go....

I believe it is commonly understood to mean at all times one is out and about and mixing with the public. I don't wear my mask when I drive to the store but put it on when I leave my car.

I had hoped it was a glitch, but no...The @CDCgov hospital capacity dashboard has gone dark. @CDCDirector has said CDC still has access to the data but apparently the public no longer does.

U.S. coronavirus data has already disappeared after Trump administration shifted control from CDC to HHS

First they told hospitals to report directly to administration task force and stop reporting to CDC. Now they've "turned off" the CDC website that provides hospital data to the public -- for news, for research, for public consumption.

This is what dictators do. Whether you're D or R, you should not want to vote for people who would turn the country into a third-world banana republic.

In case it's not clear, the Trump administration is paving the way to lie with impunity and make-up COVID numbers that can't easily be fact-checked because they are hiding the data from the public.

They have no plan to address the virus and save lives -- their plan is to confuse the public and lie about the numbers. Their plan is to let people die then pretend it's not happening.

This is the person at HHS that is running the COVID plan for Trump administration and who is now receiving the data that previously went to CDC. No experience in health and human services, not a doctor, no background in science. He's a political hack:

Quote:
Michael Raymon Caputo (born March 24, 1962)[2] is a Republican political strategist, and media consultant. In April 2020, Caputo was appointed as assistant secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services for public affairs.[1][3]

He worked for the Reagan Administration with Oliver North, and later as director of media services on the campaign for President George H.W. Bush in the 1992 United States presidential election.

Caputo moved to Russia in 1994, after the fall of the Soviet Union, and was an adviser to Boris Yeltsin. He worked for Gazprom Media in 2000 where he worked on improving the image of Vladimir Putin in the U.S. He moved back to the U.S. and founded a public relations company, and then moved to Ukraine to work on a candidate's campaign for parliament.

Caputo worked as the campaign manager for Carl Paladino in his 2010 bid for Governor of New York. Caputo worked for the Donald Trump campaign from November 2015 to June 2016, and was in charge of communications for New York. He left the campaign after publicly supporting the removal of campaign manager Corey Lewandowski.

Caputo was investigated by the United States House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence as part of their investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 US presidential election.

Caputo was mentored by Roger J. Stone Jr. in the ways of political advisement, and became his personal driver.

In 2019 and 2020, Caputo posted numerous sexist tweets.

In early 2020, Caputo multiple derogatory and crude tweets about Chinese people and female individuals, all of which he deleted shortly before assuming a position at HHS.

So. . . everything thing is hunky dory in Florida? Right? Just Crazy Democrats stirring up fear. Right? Or at least this is what DeSantis and the other Cartman's in his party keep saying.

Worldometer shows 156 deaths so far today in Florida, shattering the record set two days ago.

Meanwhile we’re still planning on sending kids and teachers back into this mess next month without even the most basic level of protection because a there’s not enough time to plan and even if there was school districts don’t have enough money anyway.

I keep hearing people here in Florida say, “well if theme parks can be open, schools can be open.” First the theme parks shouldn’t be open and second the big theme parks are taking a lot of measures to protect cast and guests as best they can. For schools they just want to open up business as usual. Where is the money for additional teachers to reduce class sizes to encourage distancing? Are they going to pay for acrylic barriers for teachers or students to reduce contact? Are they paying to provide PPE for teachers and students? Are they hiring additional custodians to sanitize classrooms nightly? Are they improving HVAC systems to reduce the spread in AC? Are they providing alternative rooms for teachers stuck in portables with mini-split AC or classrooms with no windows? I could go on and on. The answer is none of that will be done. They will expect schools open how they were in March, hoping that some parents elect to do virtual or homeschool and that sorts it out. Meanwhile they will also expect teachers to teach BOTH in person classes and online classes.

My wife is a teacher and even before this we had to pay to provide basics for her classroom like cleaning supplies, tissues, hand soap and sanitizer. Also there would be weeks between her requesting a custodian come in to vacuum or clean her classroom desks and when it would actually be done. She had a leak above the door in her portable that was soaking the carpet near the door on raining days and it took almost an entire semester to get it repaired. How is any of that going to be improved? If they couldn’t provide the basic level needed before this, how are they going to provide the much greater level of service and cleaning needed now? It’s not possible.

Absolutly. Just like the "slow the testing down" comment to make the numbers look lower, suddenly the total case numbers will go down, the hospital numbers will go down. Before his stupid speech at the RNC convention, the numbers in Florida will suddenly start to improve so DeSantis will ok more people can attend. They will manipulate things to keep people from voting in key places, etc. Trump doesn't like the science so he's going to twist it. He does not want a body count of close to a quarter of a million being reported as people go to the polls in Nov.

Hard to hide the bodies tho' so hope the media keeps showing the refrigerated trucks being used as morgues and the obit pages in hot spots. Altho' Trump will manipulate the death rates too. I just hope Fauci and others keep speaking out

This is like if Trump said he is so worried about voter fraud that he's having all the ballots from the upcoming election sent directly to his administration and they will do the counts and release the results.

Pretty sure those are the same guys that speak at the public City Council meetings advocating for house parties and a sewage treatment plant to be named after Brittany Spears.

I am very saddened to hear Chuck Wollery's son contracted Covid--at least for his son and all who were not flat-earther's regarding Covid. As for Chuck, are you beginning to see the light?

Chuck Woolery: Profiles in Courage - Son Tests Positive for COVID-19. Deletes Twitter Account.

For those who missed his tweet:

Quote:
“The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most, that we are told to trust. I think it’s all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. I’m sick of it," Woolery wrote.

Desantis blamed the media for the outbreak today Apparently the reason Florida is a mess is because they didn't ask him about Corona enough in May.

This article is dated March 16 2020. I'm a Kaiser member.

It's a federally sponsored clinical trial. I wonder if Trump has the power to defund it?

LINK

Quote:
On March 16, 2020, Kaiser Permanente Washington Health Research Institute gave the first-ever injection of an investigational vaccine for the 2019 novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, to volunteers participating in phase one of the federally sponsored clinical trial.
Quote:
The initial trial is a small “phase I” test involving 45 participants—part of a 3-phase process that is necessary to determine whether a vaccine works. In this first phase, KPWHRI researchers are testing the safety of various doses and whether these doses produce an immune response. Phase I trials are not designed to determine whether the vaccine is effective in preventing coronavirus infection. That work comes at a later phase of the vaccine research.

Desantis blamed the media for the outbreak today Apparently the reason Florida is a mess is because they didn't ask him about Corona enough in May.

Of course he did. DeathSantis typifies the term dereliction of duty. He's lucky he's not in the military.

FL Gov Ron DeSantis says he won’t close the state’s gyms because “If you are good shape you have a very, very low likelihood of ending up in significant condition as a result of the #coronavirus.”

Is he really that dumb or is he just imitating Trump? Or is that a difference without a distinction?

Sigh. Can we please have the Center for Disease Control testify during a pandemic. I think that's a completely appropriate request. Even if the recent changes didn't occur.
