NOW: A major hospital in the Midwest has reached its limit on ventilators minutes ago.
They are handing out forms saying that only those “with the best chance of survival” will get care. Others will be getting pain medication. 1/

I think Andy meant to say "the likelihood of getting better"..anyways he made it up and its not happening yet. likely all hospitals have something like this in place now. |

My God, over 10% kill rate in Italy. Such a beautiful country and such wonderful people.
I have traveled there, I remember getting up early in some tiny town in the Piedmont, taking photos of the town and a sweet old lady who spoke no English saw me and escorted me around the town pointing out the sights. So proud of her town. One town where a kid heard me speaking English and said "American, where you from?" I said California. And he lit up and said Los Angeles? Lakers, Kobe!!! I said yeah Kobe and we high fived. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman |

Unfortunately that's what triage is in a mass casualty situation. Prioritizing treatment based on the chances of survival is the only way to save the most lives. _________________ You thought God was an architect, now you know

Yes, this where those who smoke and or are morbidly obese regret a lot of their past decisions. And I don't say that to make light of it or make fun of anyone. These are some of the facts that Dr.'s go by when they are called upon to make these decisions.
The mental anguish that Dr.'s will have the rest of their lives thinking about these decisions they make are hard to comprehend. I can see a wave of PTSD coming down the line with those in the medical field when this is all over. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

actemra (Tolicizumab) gets some good news and hydroxychloroquine gets some bad news out of italy.
"according to doctors treating coronovirus patients in Italy, Tolicizumab, a drug used to treat moderate to severe rheumatoid arthritis, has been shown to be more effective than hydroxychloroquine. Tolicizumab is so effective that the FDA gives green lights to Phase III Tocilizumab Trial for COVID-19 pneumonia.
In response to a question from another doctor on hydroxychloroquine, Dr. Giusppe Galati said in a tweet: “Dear
@DrLuizSilva1 despite the large noise on social media. Here in Flag of Italy they are trying several combinations of antiviral included the combination HCQ + azithro. Infectivologist refer little benefit. The unique drug which is causing impressive improvement is #Tolicizumab.”

It clearly says maintain or increase social distancing. Yes it says "or relaxing".
But you can twist it how you like. But until you see what the new guidelines are this is a moot point. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

I hope this doesn't become the case of which drug company can bribe whomever to endorse their drug over another one that is generic and cheap.
Obviously we don't know if Chloroquine is the real deal or not with this. Most evidence has shown that it helps. But ideally with it being cheap and readily available this would be the ideal situation. But alas, it's probably not a very profitable drug. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

No I agree. But I'm of the mindset that he says stuff like this to keep faith in the US economy, and to boost the market.
Now yes it's a double edge sword that may cause the ignorant to relax on their social distancing and hand washing, when he says things like this. _________________ Think about how stupid the avg. person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.

Dyson to make 15,000 ventilators
"This new device can be manufactured quickly, efficiently and at volume," Dyson added, saying that the new ventilator has been designed to "address the specific needs" of coronavirus patients. |

Trump's denying numbers. He makes decisions on his beliefs not what numbers say.
Trump supporters are in denial or are delusional. Relax by any other terms is relax. China made the mistake of relaxing. The ensuing action should be examined by those who support relaxing.

Not a big Gavin Newsom guy, but he's done a pretty good job in comparison. I wish he'd use the national guard to stop these idiots from sunning at the beach or playing pickup basketball, but whatever.
