Though this is but a blip and won't last, it is still way cool:

NBA Defensive Real Plus-Minus

Code:
1   Alex Caruso, SG   LAL   4.33
2  LeBron James, SF   LAL   4.33

That's a fantastic idea.

Sounds really cool but can Vince still get up?

How dare Alex Caruso be listed against those names of absolute legends. The best of the best. When we talk about needing all stars, we mean we need a Brad Miller, or Mehmet Okur. Possibly a Roy Hibbert.

We can't let Alex Caruso dilute this of all meaning for me. This is more important than fans having fun with a popularity contest. We must remain disciplined, like we have always done in the past.

That's always a weak argument: "It's OK to make a bad choice today because we made a few bad choices in the past." I can't think of any situation where they one flies.

Only you think its a bad choice. I think Caruso as an all star is a great choice, and so do most Laker fans.

He's not the only one who thinks it's a bad choice..

Amusing how many are moaning about the choice instead of seeing it for evidence of exactly what it is: the absolute BS of valuing "accomplishments" other people vote for. all-star appearances, MVPs, all-defense, etc.--all complete BS popularity contests that say nothing of a player's value. But, LG keep being LG. Bless this community's heart.

I think what you're missing is that Caruso hasn't actually been voted any accomplishments. He's simply higher up in the voting than he should be based on his production.

He won't actually make the all-star team.

I disagree that all-star, all-NBA, MVP, etc. are "popularity contests" that favor personality over performance. Sure, there are always debatable choices, but by and large I'd say those honors do track well with performance and they are a reasonable element to include when evaluating players.

Honest question…does anyone even care about the all-star game anymore? The game is a joke and it seems like a decent dunk contest comes around less often then the olympics. People mad about the voting just seems strange to me.

I haven't watched an all-star game in decade.

However, making the all-star team is a honor that is really separate from the game itself.

It's like what they say about the NFL Pro Bowl: Everyone wants to be on the team, but no one wants to play in the game.

I love the all-star weekend still. I take off that weekend from work every year to watch it all lol.

I hoped all this attention would make Caruso more aggressive on offense. He easily gets to spots on the court, I don't see why he is so afraid to shoot.

I like everything except the game itself . I enjoy the skill challenge, 3pt contest, dunk contest. Even better if it's recorded and I can skip through the BS. But the game itself is boring and I usually just watch it on triple speed to get through it until the last few minutes. Unless it's a blowout and then I don't even bother to finish it.

It isn't as good as it used to be. I feel like Kobe and them used to turn it up and get after it a little. The LeBron and into the Curry era, they play zero defense.
