This sort of thing makes me glad they added the media and players vote to reduce the role that fans have in choosing starters.

I would prefer all of them resting that week instead of playing the All star.

Same. And I love Caruso.

Reminds me of that hockey story where some nobody got voted in by the fans via some kind of “Vote for the Worst” style campaign.

John Scott is the NHL player that was voted in, read his Player Tribune article about it amazing story actually: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/a-guy-like-me

Honest question…does anyone even care about the all-star game anymore? The game is a joke and it seems like a decent dunk contest comes around less often then the olympics. People mad about the voting just seems strange to me.

I haven't watched an all-star game in decade.

However, making the all-star team is a honor that is really separate from the game itself.

It's like what they say about the NFL Pro Bowl: Everyone wants to be on the team, but no one wants to play in the game.

That is why Alex would be more of a novelty than an all-star if he made the team.

Yup, I heard his story on NPR and it was amazing. The NHL higher ups came out looking like the villains.

Let the fans have fun and vote in who they want. We don't need so called media and players policing who the fans vote into the All Star Game.

If you don't watch why do you even care.

It's all star meaning star meaning what people want to see. If they want to see alex caruso, which based on the votes they do, then he is a star and he should be on the all star team.

Your comment and the other comment about you being glad viewer votes dont count for much make no sense to me. At the end of the day it's entertainment for people to watch. If people say they want to watch alex caruso then that's who we should be seeing at the game. And then also that's the honor that he earned.

The All-Star Game is for the fans. The All-NBA teams are for the media types to pick the "official" best players (as if the media should count for more than the fans who, you know, make it possible for the league to exist AND for those media people to have their jobs). It's pretty cool that Caruso's doing so well, but obviously he wouldn't actually make the team even if it were fan vote only so it's a moot point anyway.

I agree with you about being glad viewer votes don’t count for much though. If the fans want to see all three Antetokounmpo brothers in the game and vote em in then I say let them have it.
