If anything, I think Bird is overhyped. For much of his career Bird only shot 2-3 3pts a game max but is considered one of, if not the, best shooters of all time. Comparatively he's nowhere close to modern day 3pt shooters. Especially guys that shoot 5 a game at a 40% clip. His career percentage is 38% |
I think Bird is underhyped imo.
Smart. Tough. Skilled. Played both sides of the ball.
56% TS career without taking current NBA 3s. Is that good? |
From a total player standpoint, I completely get you thinking Bird is underrated. But from purely a shooting standpoint, he's way overhyped. |

Yes, I think you might be. 
On the offensive side at least, he's doing things that no other 20 year old has ever done. Boy is skilled. |
Luka's a beast.
Only thing he has to do is stop the Euroflop mentality and play any D to win me over.
Just seen too many absurd attempts to draw a foul and WAY too much complaining for fouls.
Still think he's the best player to come into the NBA in the last 5 years by far.

What astounds me watching our former kiddos playing around the league is the volume of them that still have virtually no IQ on defense.
The only 2 that have any understanding of that end of the floor IMO are Zo and Nance...and maybe Josh...the rest range from indifferent (BI) to downright dreadful (Jordan, Kuz)
And before you go saying Kuz has improved...he has...from hot garbage to garbage.
Watch how many times he switches off of weak offball screens or doesn't find his man in transition off of our misses...he compromises our defense so often it must drive Hollins insane.
Watch him offball and in transition vs Bradley if you really want to see how dramatic the difference is.
On ball he has definitely improved...offball and in transition he is horrible.
Luke's switch everything coaching has instilled some horrible habits in him imo.

Typically "over hyped" is because of listening to all the noise. I personally try to measure the player with as little noise influence as possible.
That said, the kid is very, very special. No hype needed. |

I've seen him on numerous occasions. I think he's a good player with a very bright future. I also think he's over hyped. Comparing him in his second year to Bird IMO it's to soon to make the comparison.

I'm conflicted about Kuz. He doesn't seem to have any fire. In a way he reminds me of Randell. He wants more than his role and he's not satisfied with the way he's being used. IMO he's not a role player.
