Laker fans have a long memory...
Stern said he voided the trade to help NO, but considering the trade of CP3 to the Clippers was the year that NO was so bad that they got the AD pick!
And if AD had gone somewhere else, he might not be a Laker today...
time to forgive and move on... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.” |

That voided trade turned out great for us after almost a decade. |

Love him, hate him, or be ambivalent to him, there’s no question he left his mark on the NBA and helped build it into the power it is today, behind the play of Magic/Bird/Jordan and then the whole slew of superstars after. |

Bobby Marks pointed out that since Stern was known for globalizing the NBA, it is ironic that the top 2 all star vote getters are international players. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023. |

He deserves props for his work towards the goal of globalizing the NBA and also helping the NBA become more profitable for its players.
I mean no disrespect to the man's memory, but he certainly frustrated me as an NBA fan, however. We can 20/20 the NO CP3 issue, but I do recall the sheer amount of frustration I felt (and other Laker fans) by his vetoing of the trade, and his ever changing defense of it. Then last night on the radio I was reminded of his no issue with letting the Sonics leave Seattle, but then fight tooth and nail to keep the Queens in Sac-of-Potatoes. There's also the time, under Riley's Lakers, he sanctioned the team cuz Riley rested the players. Just kinda felt like he would single out the Lakers from time to time, or just make questionable decisions as a commissioner.
In any event, I'm sure my perception is warped or somesuch, but honestly that's my memory of him: A mixed bag, both appreciative, and simultaneously, frustrated, with his term as a commissioner. Nonetheless, he left his mark on the game, and it's always sad to see someone go. In the end, regardless of my disagreement with the man, I do believe he was coming from a good intention. |

Word on basketball reasons.
The man played a part in growing the NBA to a multi billion dollar enterprise, expanding the league, developing the G League and WNBA. Gotta give him props for that.
Jalen Rose brought up something interesting.. the dress code thing was a “wink wink”. It was about appeasing sponsors and advertisers but not really a big deal.
Now NBA players get paid about as good as anyone in sports except for big soccer stars or NFL QBs. Or if you’re the best (Jordan, Kobe, LeBron), the best. _________________ We pour this booze and we drink this booze because we think it's yummy. YUMMY!
