They should strip them of the Championship and award it to the Dodgers!

That'll stop everyone from cheating...

Can't be a coincidence that Verlander returned to Cy Young form the moment he landed in Houston right?

Strip the chip.
Void the contract of any hitters they can prove we're cheating and then ban them from resigning with the Astros.

Yup, I think they are stealing signs on whether a batter is going to swing or not

You know what else would be interesting to know, were any extremely large bets placed during the WS for the Astros to win it all in general, or even just in specific home games in 2017. Did anyone else know about the cheating and profit from it off the backs of people who did not know.

appears Cora and Beltran have been identified as primary players in whatever was taking place. It will be interesting to see if that is accurate or someone within the Astros pushing the narrative away from current Astros.

I suspect, but do not know for a fact, that Beltran is the guy referenced in the article from The Athletic. I'm referring to the unnamed hitter who wanted a sign stealing system like his prior team. In 2017, there weren't a lot of Astros hitters who had a "prior team." The major suspects are Beltran, McCann, and Reddick. For Beltran and McCann, the immediate prior team was the guys in pinstripes.

Cora going to the Red Sox and them instantly turning into a juggernaut is a little suspicious now.

they clearly improved in 2018, but they had won the AL East in both 2016 & 2017...if you compare the last 2 years of John Farrell and the recent 2 years of Cora, they have won a total of 6 more regular season games under Cora

cheating is an institution in baseball. It is the only sport as a child that you begin learning how to cheat or use trickery in the first week of practice. There is very little baseball can do even if they learn the Astros are guilty of this. They do not have the ability to vacate championships and they are unable to punish individual players. Sure they could hit them with draft picks or something....but nothing major. Finally if the Astros are doing this, other teams are doing this or something similar.

They absolutely can do something about this. I don't know where you get the idea that just because cheating is historically a thing in baseball that the commissioner's office can't do anything. That's a crock.

And yes, the rumor is besides the Astros, the Rangers and the Brewers also have advanced sign stealing (cheating) techniques that other teams are aware of.

At bare minimum, there should be:
- huge fine
- loss of multiple years of draft picks
- no international bonus pool
- manager suspension for a year
- FO personnel banned for life

Combine this with the other fiasco around the female reporter this postseason and that organization needs to be burnt to the ground.

Congrats - you were pretty spot on, as far as what actually happened.

I figured that there wouldn't be anything done against the actual players because of the union and how messy the investigation would get (and players are on other teams since 2017), but yeah...

Doesn't take the sting out of what happened, but at least they did something.

We were the best team all year, and I really felt like that was the year we would win it all. 2018 not so sure.

What happens with the picks? Who will get them? Or will there just be less rookies in 2020 and 2021.

or better yet, Dodgers and Yankees get to trade one of their horrible contracts for someone on the current Astro squad.

Just pass over the picks. Treat them like the 13th floor.
