Resurgent Oscar Nominee From 'Jackie Brown,' Dies at 78

A key part of two of my favorite campy movies.

RIP

I can't say I'm familiar with much of his earlier work, but he did a great job in Jackie Brown. RIP.

He died on the day El Camino premiered. He was great in it.

The Pride of Rochester, NY. I met him once here in L.A. and mentioned I was from rochester and we talked about our rival high schools lol.
If you ever wanted to truly know what a Buffalo/Rochester/western NY "provincial" accent sounded like- Forster was the guy...

You like The Delfonics?!...

JB was probably my least favorite QT movie and had only seen it in 97 until I managed to see it again a few years ago. A lot better than I had remembered. I guess I expected Pulp Fiction 2 back in 97. I liked that Chris Trucker was left in a car trunk early in the movie. That was a good idea for any movie with him in it.

JB was the last really excellent movie QT made. And Forster was a huge part of that.

It's the most linear movie he made in his early career. It felt like him, yet I don't remember any significant flashback or out-of-sequence scenes a la PF. I can say I like JB now. I like Inglorious Basterds generally, but it's probably my least fave QT movie. Has great scenes and some excellent dialogue and characters, but it's an avalanche of dialogue and the end premise of blowing up all of the Third Reich in a theater is silly on its face so the ending is silly. The German sniper's interest in the French chic who ran the theater was ended sloppily for all the build-up that took place before it. Eh... But I'll still watch it if it comes on. Kinda like eating day old pizza in the morning. It's still kinda good cold. Hateful 8 was also practically all dialogue, but Walton Goggins and JJ Leigh (who was unreal in that role) and SLJ (as always) were worth the watch.

Django Unchained, silly overall premise, but also funny in parts, disturbing in parts, gun action in parts, good guys vs bad guys at its core. Leo was excellent. SLJ was hilarious. I can only imagine how audiences reacted to his role in theaters. Kill Bills = 1 great fight scene apiece, the rest meh, but still watchable. Uma vs Darryl H was the best scene in the two flicks, but so excellently planned and shot that it's obvious to the viewer. Uma squishing Darryl's eye in her toes is QT's gimmick of breaking the general rule that female characters don't get brutalized in movies. That rule was evident in the negative reactions to poor Zara getting eaten by the mosasaur in Jurassic World.

I watched El Camino on the plane ride home last night. As you and DMR posted, he was terrific....understated yet powerful.
