One way or another, Kuzma winds up back in the starting lineup imo. He started off the bench first 2 years and quickly within the first 2 games of the season became the permanent starter.

unless our true centers start laying a complete egg he's coming off the bench. And thats his best value right now is as a 6th man type player who can provide scoring off the bench when AD, Lebron, or both sit.

and heck, unless he's ready to shoot 40%+ from 3 and make a leap defensively, he's not even a lock for the best possible death lineup

I can easily see a lineup like:

Bradley
Caruso
Green
Lebron
AD

out performing:

Bradley/Caruso
Green
Lebron
Kuz
AD

We could really use Kuz as a scoring punch off the bench.

We start AD/LBJ, but stagger them too. So Kuz should also be playing with one of them as well. If Rondo HAS to play, then I would like to see him, Kuz/AD form the first sub rotation when LBJ is out.

I think many of us are assuming Kyle is going to be the same player from last year, instead of an improved year 3 player. Which I'm hoping is an incorrect assumption.

Rondo should not even be the first sub. Its been just one game but Caruso looked very sharp as the lead playmaker in a lineup... and he was doing it without Lebron or AD in the game to take the focus away from him.

I'd rather Rondo just mentor our guards from the bench and only get called up in games where Lebron is not playing.

Is the team keeping the media out more? Feels like there's way less info and overall coverage of training camp this year. You wouldn't even know the season starts in two weeks with how dead it seems.

Definitely a big difference from last season.

Vogel is doing a lot of things right and contrary to Luke.
It’s early but I feel he knows what he’s doing
It’s so refreshing to see this after Brown, MDA, Byron, Luke.

We are running a 5 out modern O.
We are aware AD and LBJ screen and roll is lethal
We are planning our D schemes to exploit less defensive lapses

It’s just nice to see balance. I felt there was too much emphasis on one style or one side of the ball the last 6-7 years. Most of all the team seems to respect the coaches and each other. All Vogel is about is unity. Smash face basketball. Together.

Let’s see though still very early don’t wanna pat anyone on the back in preseason. Just this feels so different even from 2012 when the Lakers had an alleged powerhouse team. Last time I felt this good about a team and all the talent was when Kobe and Pau were going to NBA finals every year.

We went from:
Jeanie's well timed anti-Jim interviews and leaks from "unknown" sources to Ramona
to
Magic's look at me lovefest with a side of open info pipeline to Ramona
to
Doing business without the media

Why is that? What's changed?

The Lakers management finally realized that the media is not our friend. They want clicks and hits, and will trash the organization with no remorse in order to do so.

Really stupid scheduling...I think the Lakers play GS the same day (or the next day) they come back from China. I hope Vogel limits minutes, or pulls the starters for that first game back.

Think it's because they're overseas. It was the typical daily training camp reports before they left and should be the same when they return.

Not to mention the whole Morey-gate thing.

Can I just get a McGee/Davis/Lebron/Green/Caruso starting lineup for one preseason game, Coach V?

So I assume the starting lineup/ 9 man rotation to start the season will be:

McGee/Howard
AD/Kuz
Lebron
Green/KCP
Bradley/Rondo

There is no legit lineup that does not include Dudley

IMO, somewhere on down the line, Daniels & Cook's 3pt shooting will also factor into the equation.
