Nothing wrong with asking boss, I just think the logic is off. Given that the circumstances and parties are different. Those differences matter.
I don't believe a man should ever put his hands on a woman. If you're trying to defend yourself I'd still recommend you exercise a great deal of caution and restraint in doing so.
Most of us have had interactions with women in which they're a bit too aggressive physically, those of us with decency understand that you don't match that physicality. This is why I don't believe your analogy works for this particular incident.
Here you go, here's another set of circumstances that might fit all of your criteria... who knows...
Rudy Tomjanovich
1) Happened on the playing field
2) Victim charged at perpetrator in an aggressive manner
3) If not for victim's aggressive actions, he wouldn't have gotten his face smashed in
4) Victim is a male

I will say this....I have never been one to side with Kap, but I did not like the smell of this whole workout to begin with for a couple of reasons.
- First, why was the NFL doing this if they did nothing wrong? They have never set up a league wide workout for an individual before that I can recall. It clearly felt suspicious and I leaned toward it being done to benefit the NFL, not Kap.
- why not let the media come? Why insisting on providing receivers if Kap had his own receivers? why not give Kap and his people a complete list of who was attending?
All that said, it was a huge opportunity for him to show that he could still play and not be a sideshow. His response was to be a problem and a compete sideshow. Almost 30 teams sent reps to watch him at their own expense. I think he is fine not playing in the NFL and continuing to get checks from Nike. I think he just continued to make poor choices today and I am pretty much done with him.

You jumped in to try and portray Rudolph as the instigator while accusing others of having an agenda.

You guys are tiresome at times.. Think!!.. Did Rudolph get beat with a helmet? No, he didn't..
Also when you ignore the fact that Rudolph tried to remove Myles's helmet, and charged at him while he was being restrained by two other players, you are ignoring context.
You guys act like you cant simply disagree amicably..

Your definition of "over" and "ended" must be different than what the dictionary says.
