Part of me is just cautious that the "real" Howard will show his true face and be the chemistry killer that he had been most of his career and his "act" getting annoying over the course of a season, especially during the bad times of the year during losing streaks or bad moments. Yet, he is up their as the best part of the Lakers season so far and actually being mature, along with being a leader and enforcer on this team. It's like why couldn't we get this guy in his first Lakers stint? But, he had to hit rock bottom in order to get this Dwight Howard today. Crazy thing would be that he would most likely be out of the league had Cousins not got hurt, no other team was interested in signing him or taking a chance on him this summer.
I honestly think the Clippers FO is shrewd enough to have looked into him like the Lakers did. Fortunately the Lakers scooped him up first.
They never worked him out. Lakers did and they were sold from that workout...just needed to see if his head was right and it absolutely has been.

This is like the 100th time I have seen fans saying that Howard will eventually show his old self, I mean come on it’s obvious that the guy is a changed person.
IG, the voice of reason.
As much as it is a truism that people never change, the odd person occasionally defies the odds and manages and sustains a massive life change as an adult. Dwight is talking and acting like a true believer in his new ways, and it has become a self-reinforcing thing now. He's getting all the praise for how he's acting now. He has a career again. The moment he stops acting like his new-self, he's going to lose his chances in the league, lose all that praise, etc. So even if we just assume Dwight is this new person simply for selfish reasons (I think his change is deeper than that), he is incentivized to continue to be a changed man. I think this is the Dwight we get from now on.
In all things in the universe--including humans--there are movements and moments termed "qualitative shifts." Perhaps Howard has had one. So far, it appears that way. The fact that so many on LG have to harp and harp and harp on trying to find something wrong, with someone, something, somewhere, somehow, is just another sign and symptom of the illness that pervades--and is often promoted through--the web/social media (and in no small way LG). _________________ I believe that a triangle, if it could speak, would say that God is eminently triangular, and a circle that the divine nature is eminently circular; and thus would every one ascribe his own attributes to God. - Baruch Spinoza
Probably the best example of a game in terms of proving Dwight has bought in. He had zero post touches or post ups. Almost no lob chances even. He end up being the team's 2nd highest +/- rated player at +18. He was DPOTYesque. It is amazing when McGee plays D. Because you know AD and Dwight will. When McGee brings it like that, my god, no team has that kind of trio.
Dwight was effective rebounding, setting great screens, defending. He is an elite player at some little things. He is proving it.

"Were there ever any hard feelings? It doesn't matter," said Howard, who has taken to wearing Bryant's signature Nike sneakers this season because he likes how they feel. "That's the past. This is a new age, a new day. We're all about positive vibes."
"I didn't even know who he was. Slapped me on the back of the neck. I was about to elbow him. But then he said, 'Hey, what's up? You're playing good,'" Howard said, changing his voice to a deep baritone to imitate Bryant. "I said, 'OK.' But it was cool. I was glad he came to the game. It was a lot of fun having him in the building."

It's amazing what's happening to this guy, seriously.
He is worth the price of admission on a nightly basis and he doesn’t even have to score a single point.
Crazy. What a graceful career change.
Indeed. The last guy with such a transformation was probably Ron Artest. We all view him as this thug after that brawl in Detroit, but he totally showed us a different side of him. _________________ Ringo "You retired too?"

Seriously. Who was the last franchise player to thrive in a limited, off the bench type role?
Trying to think of one but I can’t.
Dwight is like the 21st century Bill Walton. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

I can’t believe how much I like Howard. He’s been an amazing story.
He’s my favorite player on the current team and I was against the signing.
I’m big on all the little things he does, because not many players are willing to do the less glamorous winning basketball plays as much anymore. He is also following through on his words. Anytime a teammate gets beat, he’s right there to help clean up the mistake.
I’m sure he’s feeling the love every time he hits the staples floor.

Totally. He looks happy, really happy. He's getting love from fans and even players. It's amazing the transformation.
