Here we go again.
The season has not even started yet, and the Lakers are fighting injuries already....
Such a recurring theme.

First thing I thought of. I'm cool with it at this point - never thought I'd say that back in the day.

If the team gets a disabled player exception, would they get an extra roster spot too? In that case, do they have to acquire the 16th player with the DPE, or could they use other exceptions?

For example, if a center is acquired via trade or signing now without the DPE, and Iggy becomes available later, I wonder whether they can sign Iggy to the vet minimum which is more than 1.75M.

I also wonder whether a true center fits better than a forward/center. His main duty is to defend the other team's biggest player so AD doesn't have to. In this sense, a center like Howard or Noah could do better. But what about his offensive role? Would somebody like Faried or Speights provide more?

Considering it's mid August now, the pool is actually not bad. It's like making the 60th draft picks. The good players are all gone with a few intriguing ones left. But unlike the 60th pick, the team has to make that choice knowing he might have to play 20mpg.

There is a huge problem for the Lakers that I have not seen anyone talk about:
And that is Davis has repeatedly stated he is NOT comfortable playing the 5 spot and if the Lakers “push” him into it, it could be a major factor of him leaving after one season..!
Lakers are better off getting a REAL Center to back up McGee, no matter how much of a stiff he is..
