Ballmer could end up being another Doc Buss. He spends the organization’s money smartly. When you have the most money in the league, you should have the best non-playing assets in the league (looking at you Jeanie).

My thought is this thread should be moved to the GD board. If threads about players who are no longer with the team belong there then so should threads about former executives.

I have to say I'm surprised by your response. I appreciate it.

QUESTION: Who's the best employer you've ever had?

ANSWER (BY ANYONE WITH SENSE): The current one.

This is literally what I teach the folks I mentor in my profession.

Why bring up the Lakers FO? We are in position to contend for championships, the Lakers FO is doing a good job.

His word choice matters here though. He can say “this is a great organization among other great organizations I’ve been apart of.” He seems to be making a point to say that the Clippers are the best experience he’s had.

Is anyone really surprised? Give credit where credit is due, all reports make the Clippers operation off the court sound like a well oiled machine. That does not mean they will beat us on the court. I have no problem owning that the Lakers organization has not been ran well in recent years, or that the way NBA teams operate today is much more efficient and effective than when Logo was with the Lakers.

Well the bar is different between the Lakers and Clippers

Remember Rob said anything short of a championship isn’t success. For organization that has 16 championships that make sense.

I believe the Clippers haven’t made it pass the second round and this was when they had Paul and Griffin. And I think they plenty of 1st round exits.

So I would think making the semi finals this year would be considered a success to them even if they lost. Which could very well be the Clippers and The Lakers are the best in the West.

As much as I love Jerry West for what he did in the past there has always been talk how he has a huge ego, massive mood swings and isn't the easiest to get along with so it goes both ways.. Why do organizations keep letting him go after awhile (I know he at some point said he would have stayed with both the Lakers and Warriors if he was not basically forced out) if he is this mythical unicorn god like front office figure? I have no doubt he gets along with the Clippers front office much more then any other franchise in the past because he's simply just a part time consultant. No doubt he is still a great asset to have on your side but people are going a little overboard with how much credit they give him imo.

He can say what he wants. We know who is paying his bills at the moment. West is also implying the Clippers are a better organization than Golden State, an organization he was also part of. Why spin this solely as a negative towards the Lakers FO? Because it fits the narrative people want to push?

Love the Logo and I'm sure Ballmer is a great owner, but this is a Lakers town. Move to Seattle or Vegas and be loved.

it is mostly Lakers fans that are taking this as a slight???....he did not even mention the Lakers, and I doubt GSW fans are bothered by his comments.

Remember the time when Shaq said Riley's the best coach he ever played for at the Heat championship parade? He stuck it to Phil and it even caught the zenmaster off guard. Years later when he had a chance to reflect on his career, he had high praise for Phil again.

Jerry West's been with the Clippers for all of 2 years, they haven't been through all the thick and thin that eventually grows and/or burns relationships. Eventually it'll be the Lakers, Grizzlies, Warriors all over again. At some point he may feel his advice is once again falling on deaf ears and will move on feeling underappreciated. If he doesn't retire, he may once again seek refuge in a place where people are receptive to his message.

It's such a disrespect towards l Frank and their GM when this guy gets all the credit for their work.

No wonder the warriors kicked him out

This. What else should I expect him to say? Before he was with the Clippers he was hinting that he wanted to end his career as a Laker.
