True statement.

Lakers blew it.

Instead of West, we have the Rambi.

JOKE.

NO. He receives too much credit for the work of others. I'm told Clipper FA success is all about Lawrence Frank. Warriors were happy to be rid of him from what I hear. And regardless, Lakers under Phil treated him like crap - what is he supposed to say?

They are both unafraid of spending money for the best things off of the court. And both will have another revenue stream by playing in their own facilities.

He has a statue outside staples and his jersey hangs in the rafters. That is a pretty good amount of appreciation.

The actual quote is "I’ve never been around any organization that is better than this one."

Thanks.
All in his right to say it.
And all in our rights to say: "Good on you Jerry. Bravo" as well as, "Go f yourself, old man Jerry"

Your team killed it this summer.
Do you think your small forward will be able to start the season? Or will he be rahabbing his shoulders?

Didn't the Lakers spend millions on a state of the art practice facility/team headquarters? I seem to recall it compared to the top facilities of NBA teams.

Steve Ballmer is worth $51 billion. If he wants to treat the Clippers as a hobby, no one can outspend him. Whether the team makes money, or loses $100 million a year, makes no real difference to him except in terms of ego.

The Lakers make a bigger profit, but Jeanie has to make sure she distributes enough of that profile to the owners to keep them happy.

Is anyone really surprised? Give credit where credit is due, all reports make the Clippers operation off the court sound like a well oiled machine. That does not mean they will beat us on the court. I have no problem owning that the Lakers organization has not been ran well in recent years, or that the way NBA teams operate today is much more efficient and effective than when Logo was with the Lakers.

I enjoy giving credit where its due. If you got a hustle, then I respect it. With that being said he just left one of the greatest dynasties and organizations we've seen in the last few decades, and it is hard for me to believe the current Clips who have accomplished nothing, top the Warriors organization top to bottom.

These type of threads that lead with an ex-Laker who throws shades at the organization. The type of threads that lead to absolutely nowhere conversations as far as the current team, the current players, and the current excitement, are the most annoying threads of all.

General thread? Absolutely. It has absolutely zero value here for us who are looking for affirming story lines. I typically try to be more tactful, but how much could/do we really care about JW talking about the "best" he works for with those guys?

ZERO!!

If Jerry REALLY believes that, then I'm afraid the Alzhiemers is setting in..

Poor old guy has forgotten his 40 years with the Lakers...

If people actually listened to the clip, all Jerry said was he loved the environment, he loves the basketball people they've brought in, he loves the lack of ego, he loves how free spending Ballmer is, and he's never been around a better basketball operation.

Not sure why this is getting people's panties so twisted up.

Because they are acting like a guy Phil and Jeanie ran out of town, who Jeanie and Magic rejected when he wanted to come home, should be all happy and say they are so much better than the current boss who is giving him tons of support and say.

I think it's more they read the incorrect headline and didn't bother to listen to what he actually said. People enjoy working themselves up over nothing.

I'm glad Jerry West is happy and it does say a lot regarding the Clippers, good for them but I'm not a fan. I do however hope all this talk about the Clippers and their FO really lights a fire under Jeanie to take a look at her situation and learn to compete because she's taken a huge hit in the PR department while the Clippers are being pumped up which translated to Kawhi choosing them over us. Don't stay sleeping or you'll get robbed.

I’ve said the same about GS and to an extent, the Mavs. There is a cap on player salaries, the way for rich owners to make a difference is to spend on top medical personnel and top facilities, top analytical personnel.

Jerry West was the embodiment of what was right about the Lakers, more so than any individual player or owner in Lakers history. And to be frank, he has every right to feel crappy about not being given a piece of the ownership pie, or being pushed out.

Nothing he says can ever take away from what he's given this franchise.
