He must be referring to after they got rid of their racist owner and the Elgin Baylor lawsuit.

Better than his tenure with Jerry Buss? (Not to mention GS) I don’t think it’s even close.

Sour grapes for being passed over by Jeannie (she should’ve brought him in btw)

Can't just be "sour grapes" over Jeanie not bringing him back since the Lakers aren't the only other franchise he's worked for, as you irononically mentioned.

There not the only franchise he’s worked for but I think the comment is directed at them. He’s barely begun working for the clippers, hasn’t done anything yet. How do you compare one season with the clippers to 20 years with the lakers or even 6 years with GS? You can’t. It’s sour grapes.

What has he done lately?

Got a team with no stars into the playoffs. Just getting Gallo to play defense is worthy of praise.

Bounced in the first round as an eighth seed by a bored GS team.

If people actually listened to the clip, all Jerry said was he loved the environment, he loves the basketball people they've brought in, he loves the lack of ego, he loves how free spending Ballmer is, and he's never been around a better basketball operation.

Not sure why this is getting people's panties so twisted up.

they cant even move to Vegas... too many SoCal Lakers transplants there who would never be Clippers fans

Pretty cold to Dr. Buss. Yeah ok. I guess championships aren't that important then.

Jerry West has always left his prior teams with a bit of dissension. Not entirely sure why that may be, but I assume it has to do with the fact that he, like any other successful executive, has an ego that sometimes gets in the way of others on the team's front office. Is that a bad thing when you've been making every team you go to better? Not necessarily? But does it leave former teams with a distaste, of course. I can see why that would then lead him to feeling his most current gig is the best gig he's ever had. I think he had similar statements in the past when he first joined GS, though I couldn't find it now when I searcehd for it.

He's the logo, knows the game, knows the ins and outs of player negotiations and has managed to make each team he's worked on better. Not going to hate that he loves his current mgmt team that's willing to spend $ and give him credit and/or flexibility to make moves more w/o necessarily being the GM. Good on the Clips for doing the right thing and taking care of the legend, and as a result, their own team's future.

West's memoir is titled "West by West: My Charmed, Tormented Life."

It all started when he asked Jerry Buss for a raise (2001-2002), because Phil Jackson was getting something like 5 million a year (Jerry West was making less that 2 million a year at the time. Jerry West felt his contribution to the organization was just as important. Dr Buss didn't budge and tthat's when all hell broke loose..

Old dude still bitter at Jeanie and Phil, just let it go man. Everything he says has always hinting at the Lakers front office/ownership ever since he left town first time around.

Guys, just face it ... It's time to move on from Jerry West. Move on from the PLayer, The Executive and the Logo. He cut ties from the Lakers decades ago. The guy that use to be ours is gone and no longer deserves our reverence, All that's left is that jersey hanging in the rafters. This guy is a hired gun with no emotional attachment for us or any of his previous employers. Clipper fans will find out when he moves on, chances are they will moon over him like us. Let him go.

Because they are acting like a guy Phil and Jeanie ran out of town, who Jeanie and Magic rejected when he wanted to come home, should be all happy and say they are so much better than the current boss who is giving him tons of support and say.

Most game seven losses out of any coach in the history of the NBA.

Clippers have the right coach.

In fairness West has always felt underappreciated. From his playing days, to his days in the front offices around the NBA. When he found himself available after the Warriors gig, the Lakers really should have hired him. The fact that they didn't just adds to the turmoil.

Just a wee bit early there Ventura.

Dr. Buss/Lakers/Celtics saved the NBA. Dr. Buss introduced the Showtime Era, made the NBA into entertainment and won multiple championships.

There's very little doubt Ballmer can even scratch the surface of this.
