I actually like this signing as well. There are drawbacks, but when healthy he can play very solid defense, and that's sorely lacking on this team.
Drawbacks - injury prone most of all, followed closely by the fact that we have way too many guards on this team, and no I don't buy for one second that THT or Baze are forwards. We have a crapload of guards.
Third downside - he's no spring chicken and teams are passing on him now, fourth - meh on offense. Fifth complaint - he bugged out on us the year we won the title.
Still, I think his defense makes up for all of this and more, IF he can stay healthy. I actually think there's a chance he could fill a need.
This signing seems odd for sure. All I can assume is that we’re really concerned about lack of defense from our other guards after seeing the pre-season games, especially while THT is out. At least now we have someone other than just Bazemore to throw at the elite guards.

Why did his value decline so quickly? He was considered a big signing for the Heat just last season. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:

I fully expect a couple of these guards to be moved when trades can be made.
THT and Nunn could fetch the Lakers something decent in return.
Russ, Monk, Baze, Rondo, Bradley & Reeves can more than hold it down. _________________ Everyting negative - pressure, challenges - is all an opportunity for me to rise.

Hey, I run the risk of giving Ennis the Marcus Banks fame lol! But...
Damn, Ennis averaged almost exact numbers as Bradley, 47% fg and 42% 3pt
and is described as a good defender as well as Ennis is 6’6”, AB is 6’3”. Lakers have:
Even with injuries why is there a need for an 8th guard...at 6’”3?
Did Ennis do something off court we don’t know about?
6 guards, 6 forwards, 3 centers seems pretty balanced to me
It’s 8 guards dude, 8 guards 6’4” or shorter. Perhaps it works out, maybe it doesn’t, we’re all just speculating here but over half the team is 6’4” or shorter, if it seems balanced to you then...you know what...never mind 😏

My guess is that Bradley is a "vet" of the Vogel defensive system. We saw in preseason we needed some more defensive cohesion, and with Bradley you may get a guy that can come in for 15 to 20 minutes and play Vogel style D. This sets the tone on how the other guys respond. These things are not important to the guys who look at the advanced stats and all that, but if you look back at 2 years ago, Bradley was not a positive on O, but he set the tone on D. Now I don't know if he still has that defensive intensity and movement left in him, but with us losing guys like Caruso, it could be an option to have Bradley on the bench for those moments.

He fits what we do but he’s not all in. He didn’t want to be in LA he’s here because he needed a job. I’m not sure that’s gonna have a negative impact but there was players who wanted to be here. _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Kind of amazing there are so many suggestions of trading away guards already. As mentioned, some of these guys wanted to be on the team. They took less and gave up other opportunities.
Yet here they are in a battle for playing time with a crowded room of guards. With the really casual comments and attitude that they are expendable for the players that fit what Klutch/ James want by the trade deadline.
So much for loyalty. And they haven’t even started the season yet. Wonder how much this attitude will effect team chemistry.

And - it's a low risk contract.
Guys this is a temporary move....It's non-guaranteed....Even if he impresses the chances of him staying are very slim...If he stays it would cost the Lakers $7 million in taxes....So he'll be released and if he impresses they'll trade him or trade another one of their guards.
If AB works his way into the rotation would the Lakers actually release him? If a spot is needed and Ellington has been planted on the bench I could see him gone regardless of the $'s.

I expect Bradley to be released once everyone is healthy. Best case scenario is he plays great and Lakers can trade him.
I think this is how he sees it too.. probably in negotiations even...
He knows we currently need some larger players and currently have injured starters. If he shines here it ups his value in the league or maybe enough to stay on this team
The competing for a spot will hopefully be valuable to the team as a whole
Dammmmit I miss AC.. I am not even willing to watch highlights from him anymore after the first one made him look like a 20mil+ player.. Dude was a high iq gym rat who had to become an accountant to make life work... but his true love was basketball... I can say this though he is in a great position to really enjoy basketball even more.. more minutes and trust
After giving it thought I like this signing. He is similar to our PG from last year at a fraction of the cost. Semi functional point guard skills with on ball defense although I feel AB is a better team defender and able to defend bigger shooting guards without getting overwhelmed. Doesn't really attack the rim and just an average 3pt shooter.
I can't imagine the team keeping all 4 of AB, Monk, Nunn, and Ellington by the time Jan 7th rolls around. There's no way you keep all of them happy and there's not enough minutes to go around where they all get a consistent chance. _________________ Luxury Tax/FA Spreadsheet (Save to your Google Drive to edit)

I guess it depends on injuries. Maybe THT's rehab takes longer than anticipated. AB seems like a Vogel player but we should know his status before the January guarantee date given how much playing time he receives. I could see Ellington being let go much like Quinn Cook was.

Business.
No emotional ties to a single player on this team.
