I remember this was supposed to be the biggest event in LA history. Obviously we blew a 3-1 lead and never got to the 2nd round, but if we do face LAC in the playoffs this year, would it be the biggest sports event in LA history?

Also, I’m assuming we won’t care much about HCA since LAC games will basically be home game for us too (roughly 60% Clippers, 40% Lakers crowd)

3-1 lead against Suns? That was 2006.

I'm pulling for a Clipper/Laker playoff match-up. That will be epic.

Is Kawhi even gonna make it to May after a deep playoff run last season?

The 2006 clipper team was the last team I actually had respect for. Because it was a team they built.

The clipper teams of the last 7 years had carried themselves with obnoxiousness and there (bleep) troll owner is (bleep) (bleep) douche bag. (bleep) him and (bleep) the clippers

That season should have ended very differently. Kobe and Co owned their next two opponents, the Clippers and Mavs. Once the Laker beat those teams they would have faced the Heat in the Finals, which would have been the greatest series of the decade. Shaq v Kobe. Kobe v Wade. Smush v the glove. Kwame v Shaq and Alonzo. Phil’s son v “There are no 4’s”Walker.

...if only Lamar got that rebound. Freakin’ Tim Thomas

Even had we gotten that far, we are not beating Miami that year unless Kobe absolutely goes GOD mode which he was capable of that year scoring but he would have had to really get on Wade too and limit Wade's effectiveness.

I hope we are 1 seed and Clippers are 8. Then we sweep them in the first round.

We would have won, too.

That team could not hold Kobe.

Man this was the year I felt we could have actually made the finals. Take out the clips, beat a tough Dallas team whose number we had that year, and see what happens against the Wade-Shaq led heat. We probably lose, but its bittersweet knowing we were a Tim Thomas bounce away from doing so much more.

Was that the series where Kobe was criticized for not shooting in game 7? People thought he was trying to prove a point?

Well, we were down by like 892.06 points in that game. It didn't really matter, but he probably was. Like, "Look at this sh, FO. I want better teammates next year." They didn't get it if there was a message, least not til 07/8.

Yes.

His teammates wet themselves from the opening tip. If Kobe had scored 50 in a blow-out loss, he would have been ripped for that. He was ripped for everything then.

We had to read that Michael Jordan never would have been so passive in a play-off game (read: "The Jordan Rules" for a more accurate take).

We lost that series when we couldn't close out Game 6 at home.
