Other than the splash bros, what other starting guards BOTH shoot 40% from 3pt last year.
you know Lebron and Davis have the gravity to get Cook and Green open looks.

What I saw of Cook last few weeks was that he was a good scoring PG. What are the chances, he can be that solid starting PG for us? Really, with this team - really with this team, 24-30 minutes 10-14 PPG a couple of assists and boards, could be a real winner with this amount of firepower. _________________ LAKERS 2019-2020: NBA World Champions! |

From the GSW games that I have seen him in, he's a knockdown shooter with some shot-creating ability. For a smaller guard, it looks like he has some decent ability to finish around the rim. I hope that he can eventually outplay Rondo for the starting PG spot. Rondo would be a better fit on the bench anyways since there is little-to-no play-making ability on the bench right now. |

Cook > Caruso > Rondo
is how I see them... in terms of their ability to be starters on this team... as well as their overall quality at this point of their careers. |

I think Cook is going to be the starter. Our starting point guard needs to be able to score and shoot the spot up 3 more than facilitate. I think Lebron is going to facilitate more this year than any other previous year in his career. The pick and roll potential between him and AD will be our money play. When Lebron goes out then that's when you bring in Caruso/Rondo to facilitate the 2nd unit. |

You're absolutely correct. However, they may want to see Rondo with Boggie & AD to see if they still have a little something going from their time on the Pels.
As another poster noted, it'll be interesting to have two G's that can pop 3's on the court t the same time (Cook & Green). _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

I'm so glad we got QC, he was my Free Agent Choice for this summer only because I knew GSW would have to let him go.
I believe given the opportunity, he should thrive with more minutes and develop into being a quality NBA PG.
He's got a championship pedigree and can shoot the rock!
I'm hopeful he earns starters minutes, only because Rondo maybe better off the bench for preservation and to close out games! Cook and Green helps us to spread the floor more for LBJ, Davis, Cousins. Boogie can also spot up from three!
Cook+Green+LeBron+Davis+Cousins
Rondo+KCP+Dudley+Kuzma+McGee
Either way you slice it rather off the bench or starting our team has depth and are primed to win a championship in 2020.
Welcome to the Lakers QC... Let's GO!!! |

We're loaded with C&S players now. Last year the only regular rotation C&S players we had were Kuz, KCP and Bullock later in the season. Everyone else were hesitant three point shooters who would only shoot it when they were wide open or when the shot clock was about to expire. It really broke up the flow of the offense and forced Lebron into a lot of 1-on-5 situations.
Now we'll be able to run actual plays involving our perimeter shooters instead guys who are just parking behind the three point line and shooting as a last resort. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant |

Not being laker homer here. But I always wondered how this guy Cook would always hit shots. It seemed like the splash bro thing rubbed off on the lesser players. But he just always came through. Wondered why he didn’t play more actually. Troy Daniels is another guy I’ve had my eye on for a while no lie. He always seems to kill us and would get scorching hot. Glad we have both. |

He'll come here and regress to his mean of being an average shooter. |

On the defensive side, what Cook lacks in height and length he makes up for in intensity and toughness. A little undersized at 6'2 with a 6'4 wingspan, Cook rarely takes defensive plays off, always harassing the ball handler and disrupting the flow of the opposing offense. He moves his feet well and could pick up the point guard full court if asked to wear out his opponent. While his average physical tools may limit his overall effectiveness somewhat in the NBA, as he won't be able to challenge jump shots or play in the passing lanes, Cook's energy level will always be present and he will play bigger than his size on defense, making him a pest for the opposition. - Source: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Quinn-Cook-6237/ ©DraftExpress _________________ Coach Vogel, Kidd, Hollins

Which matches the eyeball test for me. I hear folks say he is a terrible defender, etc. I'm watching him pour effort into his defense which means a ton to me (and half the battle with being a good defender is the effort). I guess terrible to me means lazy and no effort combined with being not a good defender.
I really like effort guys as that can be contagious. I notice that guard wise we added cook, bradley and green who can be called effort guys. |

In the 2018 season Cook started for GS in the final 17 games and averaged 16-4-4 on 51/47/87 in 34 mpg. |

Still torn on if we should have gone the Burke route (better shot creator/assists) instead of Cook but Playoff game experience and winning attitude/culture (Duke/GSW) makes this the safer pick.

QC is a very nice addition, hopefully he'll get enough minutes to prove his undeniable talent. |

All along I thought we hired Kidd for Ball or DLo but it was for Quinn Cook. _________________ Formerly OC Lakerfan |
