It's funny because I was just recently pondering the fact that AD is close w/LeBron and now Russell has expanded the inner circle to three. I didn't know AD was preparing for marriage but I did reflect upon the fact that two were married before the recent knot tied by AD.

Something tells me that they like the idea of the core of the team being stable, married (or in real stable relationships), and will have a positive carry over affect on the stability of the team.

No offense, but I don't think stuff like that matters in the slightest in regards to how the team will perform on the court. It may be great for the guys personal lives, but plenty of successful championship teams in all sports have been filled with people with terrible dysfunctional lives.

No offense taken, but it does matter. Whichever one it was, Nunn or Monk, stated that they joined our team in part to "learn how to be a man... some of these guys have been there"" Some of those same guys would acknowledge the impact that their personal lives, such as their marriages, have had on their professional lives. It's a super generalization.

Great personal lives can absolutely have an impact on the court, just as personal turmoil can. My focus was not on the "plenty", because that would be indisputable, but a small group on this current team.

But the two emboldened points, at least in a broad sense, can be link in a good way, doesn't matter how much, which is my point. It's a good thing man.

Don't care for his marriage for second. I am more interested if he is working to improve that glass body and to be able to show what he can actually do when 100% healthy.
I hope LBJ will push his ass to work out hard.

i mean i wouldn't read too much into the marriage. she's the mother of his children. they are in their late 20s. that's when a lot of people get married. it's just a sign of growing as an adult.

LBJ and Russ are in their 30s. they are already married with kids. it's just how it is for a lot of people.

but yeah, if i had to guess, Russ isn't going anywhere anytime soon. Russ and AD will be the core of the lakers going forward. Bron will be Bron as long as he can. i'm guessing (and hoping) he will be a freak of nature until an injury knocks him down a step. kind of like kobe. dude was BALLING until the achillies (F'ing D'Antoni!).

Depends on the guys and the teams.

Years ago, it was posited that married guys played better more consistently because they spent less time "chasing" . . .

Frank Vogel on Anthony Davis: “ He put a lot of work this off-season into his body. He comes in for a workout, the first time seeing him in a while, and his body looked Imposing.” H/T @SpectrumSN / @LakersSupply

This is amazing news….something we’ve all wanted and now AD stepped up….I believe he’ll have an amazing year and the best part is he should stay healthy unless it’s a freak injury. Kudos to AD

Well those latest pictures of him don't show it. Hopefully we are missing something because he looked skinnier than last year.

Isn’t that the point? He showed up fat and out of shape last year. It’s a good thing he looks skinnier than last year.

I can't remember what it was from but I saw a picture from a week or so ago and he def. looked more fit then last year and more solid then i've seen him as a Laker. That's what's more important is for him to get his core built up and just be overall solid. Last thing i'd want to see is him gain a bunch of extra muscle.

No, we don’t want skinny, we want bigger and more defined with a strong base. Weight training with Lebron. He gets pushed around like a point guard and falls on every play.

You can be extra conditioned like he appears to be right now and be much more effective, lighter on your feet and move up and down the court much better. And if he did a lot of core strength training he won't be falling down not nearly as much. And it's not going to look like you put on muscle....That's not what you want anyways....you want a super conditioned athlete with good core strength for balance and avoid injuries.

Quote:
9. Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers

(Previous rank: 7)

Davis fulfilled his potential in the bubble in 2020 with a dominant run that resulted in his first championship. He averaged 27.7 points, 9.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game, with a silly 66.5 true shooting percentage that, when combined with his versatility on defense, made him as valuable as any player on the planet. (The Lakers outscored opponents by 11.6 points per 100 possessions with Davis on the floor and were outscored by 8.9 points per 100 possessions when he sat, the widest differential on the team.)

If he followed that stretch up with an entire season’s worth of similar production, Davis would in all likelihood rank No. 1 on this list. Instead, he had the most disappointing year of his career, with a statistical chasm unseen since his rookie year. Injuries played a role, as did an unprecedentedly brief offseason.

His mid-range shot was inconsistent, albeit relied upon more than any other time since he was drafted. He took fewer shots at the rim and didn’t aggressively seek trips to the free throw line as frequently as someone so physically imposing probably should. The thing is: A down Davis year is still better than 99% of his contemporaries’ best. At only 28 years old, there’s no reason why he won’t bounce back. Generational talents tend not to lick their wounds for very long. — MP

That’s a pretty fair ranking, might even be a bit generous.

AD has to get back into the top 7 and tbh he really should be able to crack top 5 especially with assist machine Russ here.

His shoulders look broader but he still has those spindly little arms. It's a bit hard to tell with AD cause he's always wearing that undershirt. His body has always looked weird to me. He's got that skinny/fat look to him....still. All I ask is work on that core and balance. That will serve him well.
