Pretty demoralizing that we still lost convincingly given AD's brilliance and LeBron outplaying Murray most of the game. |
Anyone but AD guarding Jokic is basically giving up 2 points. Lebron and Rui are too small to bother any shots. |
Saw this movie last year and yet there is only Hayes and Woods for any size. Mgmt apparently hasn’t caught on that when they were big, they could matchup with Denver and has done the opposite with totally predictable results… |
I remember saying something similar this past offseason. And hearing on this board that. "You don't build a team just to beat 1 opponent. You build a team to compete against the whole league".
As if the 2 were mutually exclusive. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you better” |

Unfortunately DPOY is hinged on your team winning games and the Lakers didn’t live up to that standard in the regular season |

AD's team has 47 wins, really 49 but the play in and ist championship are not counted. They were 2-6 when he did not play and gave up layup lines. Ad also won more games without Bron for the second straight year finishing over 500 without him, while Bron is sub 500 without him. Last year it was games played for the media despite him playing more games and minutes than most his peers. This year he literally had his 26th straight double double in game 1 while shutting down Gordon and Joker and getting no help on the interior. |

Rudy Gobert (Wolves 56-26)
Bam Adebayo (Heat 46-36)
Victor Wembanyama (22-60)
It's actually a (bleep) joke. AD is better than both Bam and Wemby and we have a better record. |

AD has been disrespected through out his career, it’s why it seems like he does everything for the team |

The Wolves have the top defensive rating so it makes sense for Gobert to be a finalist as their best defensive player but AD is a better rim protector than Bam and more mobile and versatile than Gobert. Everyone saw how AD dominated defensively in the playoffs last year so it's not like they don't know what he does. San Antonio is 21st in defensive rating, has a horrible record, and Wemby is a finalist? That makes no sense. |

The Athletic just released their annual player poll. 142 players participated. When asked “Who is the best defender” Davis didn’t make the list. 15 players received enough votes to be listed. Davis finished in the “other players receiving votes” section. For whatever reason there’s a pretty wide gulf between how Laker fans perceive him and how pretty much everyone else does. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

I'd have to see which players participated. They did one of these last year and nearly every participant said Jrue Holiday. Leads me to believe there's a heavy selection bias towards perimeter players. |

Wemby received the most votes. There are a lot of perimeter players on the list, but in addition to Wemby, other bigs that made the list include Gobert, Bam, Draymond, and Isaac. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

he will win it this year, and deserves it, but if Wemby or Bam wins it, then this award is a joke.
Minny has the best defense in the NBA. i was hoping AD can make the final 3 and first team All defense, but it is what it is. if you surround AD with Reid/Edwards/McDaniels, he will ran away with the award too., |

Anthony was listed on the “overrated” list (2.5% of 81 votes) |

And not a single player picked Gobert. None of the GMs picked Gobert either. Makes you wonder what the criteria is. None of the GMs picked Bam or AD either. There's a GM that thinks Kawhi is a more impactful defender than Gobert, AD and Bam? Are they even watching the games?
There's a huge disconnect between what players think and what GMs think. Giannis didn't make top 15 list for players but 40% of GMs said Giannis is the best.
GMs:
On the subject of best defensive player, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo garnered 40 percent of the vote, followed by Boston Celtics guard Jrue Holiday at 13 percent, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green and Memphis Grizzlies guard Marcus Smart at 10 percent, and Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. and Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard at 7 percent. |
