Maybe you should bolt as a Lakers fan if that's your perspective on this..

This is wild for a number of reasons, but chief among them is that the Lakers were in the lottery the last six years, got the second pick three times during those six years, and still didn't draft a superstar level player. Then you throw in all of the failed trades and free agent pursuits for said superstars, and somehow, all of that didn't teach you just how hard it is to land a superstar? You really wanna relive another six years of the blackhole we've been stuck in right as we're on the cusp of getting out of it? That's nuts. _________________ “Christ did not die to forgive sinners who go on treasuring anything above seeing and savoring God. If AD signed an extension he would be extending his current contract that was based on 25% of the cap at the time he signed. If he opts out after this season he can sign a new contract worth 30% of next year’s cap. That will be a much higher salary.
I get it, but why not at least say that to allay fears? At least rhetorically he's leaving the window wide open that he might bolt.
Because keeping fear instilled is what gives potential free-agents power. That comes right out of the Lebron James playbook.
Agreed. He started this whole "player empowerment" era.
Yeah, it's not like Kareem demanded a trade to the Lakers or Knicks in 1974....
true
Yeah, true, but there was no free agency til 1983. Demanding a trade was the only way out in 74, but the team still had the choice whether to accommodate him. And even after players became UFAs, it took about another decade before they got truly mercenary. I know there are exceptions to the rule here and there. Sportswide was the phenomenon. When Elway said he wouldn't play for the Baltimore Colts and that he wanted to go to a West Coast team in 83 or he'd play baseball for the Yankees, everyone was in a tizzy. When Magic pulled his first "I'm not happy here" move in 81, he got similar backlash because Dr. Buss fired the coach. Bo Jackson was criticized for refusing to go to the Tampa Bay Buccs because they screwed with his college baseball eligibility and he said he'd play baseball instead. Football fans and talking heads couldn't imagine the audacity. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

The Pelicans will be the ultimate test for "build through the draft" folks. They have our #2 picks and they have arguably the biggest draft pick since Lebron, in Zion. My guess is they will be 01' Clippers, exciting to watch, win 39 games, but ultimately go nowhere.
AD's response of "I'm focused on this season" was Kawhi's response to everyone when asked if he would sign a long term contract with the Rap's.
That's something to watch for as the upcoming season comes to an end....
Except KL didn't twice maneuver (trade deadline, this summer) to get traded to the Raptors. KL was sent to what Pop thought was the coldest place in the NBA b/c he knew how much KL hated the cold. He ended up winning a ring there.
AD has been trying to come to the Lakers for some time, and the team gave up a costly ransom for him. I (hope) don't think he's going to just bounce without an extraordinarily good reason. He knows the Lakers team and empire will be his (co-face right now) for the foreseeable future. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

I'll only be concerned if AD parts ways with Klutch sometime before he signs his next deal. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketball…but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

I actually wouldn't mind AD holding the Lakers feet to the fire with a 2+1 or something shorter (would get him to his 10 year service contract too). I think it's about 99.99% he re-signs and his jersey will hang in the rafters one day.
But Lakers cannot take him for granted. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals

AD isnt going anywhere he just cant give up his leverage yet and shouldnt answer questions from that troll Plaschke
There's nothing the Lakers won't give him in terms of money, and they've already basically burned all their assets to acquire him, so what more could he possibly be angling for? He hates playing center so they sign two traditional centers, which is probably two more than they need in the playoffs... I feel like I'm missing something.
