I thought this was a security guard not some racist sheriff deputy

My apologies to Masai Ujiri

There must be a couple phone cams or something that caught more of this

From all I have read and watched now in the past 15minutes of research

Cop will lose his job if the department pursues charges..

How can there not be tons of video available..

That cop shoved him first. from all I saw. Nobody got hit in face.. Piglet is fat and doesn't do well when a person of color defends his RIGHTS..

I would bring suit immediately against the Sheriffs Department for even making this a problem. If you have the cash use it constructively and force these cops to take more training

I have spoken with alot of Nigerians through the years. And most didn't want to move to America if given the chance, even before Trump was President. Why? Racism, particularly the deadly kind from law enforcement.
Many people across Africa followed these finals and rooted for Ibaka, Siakim, and Ujiri. It's a shame this happened.

I just saw in one of the articles that the cop went to the hospital complaining of some head pains.. was later released

^^ Wow.. makes no sense. Trying to make his story stronger?

The Sheriffs office actually submitted misdemeanor charges to the DA to prosecute. **Their stories better match reality and if not?

It'll be fun to put the developments in this story and the reactions to it side by side with the Smollett fraud.

Greg Wiener, a season ticket holder who was standing next to the officer, told The Associated Press the police are not telling the truth and are trying to cover up for what the officer did. He said Masai Ujiri never struck the officer in the face or asked for a credential.

uh oh...

Greg Wiener just earned the thin blue line treatment by alameda deputies for the rest of his life

Not good PD! Facts starting to look like Ujiri was telling the truth

He's a prick. The officer asked him to show credentials, he shoved him aside, the officer shoved back (this is wrong, no questions), and Ujiri shoved him again, harder, and somehow struck him in the face. Should he go to jail? No. Is he a raging (bleep)? No question. Would it be hilarious if Warrior fans were so butthurt that they arrested him and charged him? Absolutely.

Witness has refuted the officers version of the story
Also, this officer had a run in with another person, an announcer I think

I don't care who you are .. don't abuse someone and think you can brush it under the rug.

Where is the tape?

His status means absolutely nothing whatsoever in the mind and heart of the person he assaulted?

LMAO.. Perfect chance to share something

@ringfinger You have a point, LEO shouldn't have the onus to recognize a celebrity of little note. That said, I stand by poor policing.

Reading some posts I also stand by Jake Brigance.

Alameda County Sheriff's Office Retweets White Supremacist, Explanation Inspires Disbelief

Alameda County sheriff's Sgt. Ray Kelly said he was doing research on Spencer because he's a "focal point" of a right-wing rally planned in Berkeley on Aug. 27 that organizers have titled "No to Marxism in America."

Kelly said when he was trying to close the video, he "hit a bunch of buttons at the bottom, and one must have been the retweet button."

However, updated Twitter applications always require two-step confirmation for any retweet, an expert familiar with the platform said. So a user must confirm before a retweet goes out.

The tweet remained shared on the Twitter profile of the sheriff's office for an extended period of time, prompting inquiries from journalists and other Twitter users.

Allowed to keep his employment while lying directly to our faces ..I smashed a bunch of buttons?
When I apologized for trusting this badgetrash I said he will be losing his job if they pursue charges
His employer MUST be punished for allowing him to stay on the force after the incident quoted above.

Humans are a terrible waste of a beautiful planet.

Raptors president Masai Ujiri identified himself to a police officer who was blocking the executive from the on-court celebrations after the Raptors’ historic NBA Finals win last Thursday, police say. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Mr. Ujiri told the deputy he was the team’s president and did present NBA identification, after The Globe and Mail described an eyewitness account of the officer being told that Mr. Ujiri was a Raptors executive, moments before the two became embroiled in a shoving match. But according to police, Mr. Ujiri did not have the specific credentials needed to enter the court. The Raptors executive appeared to be holding a red badge, but only officials with a purple badge and gold arm band were allowed on the court. This, multiple witnesses told The Globe and Mail, is what precipitated the incident between the officer and Mr. Ujiri, a confrontation that has stirred a fierce debate about racial profiling and raised questions about how the team president could be denied entry to the court in a moment of triumph, even if he had the wrong lanyard. Though the NBA is made up predominantly of black players, Mr. Ujiri is one of only a handful of high-level executives who are not white.

However, The Globe has interviewed three men who were sitting within 10 feet of the altercation, and each says they never saw Mr. Ujiri strike the officer’s face. – via Toronto Globe & Mail

This is why it's insanely stupid of the sheriff's department to elevate this. Now their past history with the community, this guy's personal life will all be fair game. And let the skeletons come out of the closet now...

Police officer sues Raptors' Masai Ujiri for alleged assault

Raptors president of basketball operations Masai Ujiri is being sued for damages by the police officer who alleged that Ujiri assaulted him in the moments after Toronto's victory over the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of last year's NBA Finals, according to a suit filed in California last week.

The suit alleges that Ujiri struck the officer -- Alan Strickland, who was identified in the lawsuit for the first time since the incident took place -- in the face and chest with both fists as he attempted to reach the court in the wake of Toronto winning the first NBA championship in franchise history.

After the two men were separated, Ujiri eventually was able to make it onto the court to celebrate with the rest of the Raptors.

EDITOR'S PICKS

Raptors' Ujiri won't be charged for shoving deputy
Strickland, along with his wife, Kelly, who is named as a co-plaintiff in the suit, allege that Strickland, as a result of the incident, "suffered injury to his body, health, strength, activity and person, all of which have caused and continue to cause Plaintiff great mental, emotional, psychological, physical, and nervous pain and suffering." It goes on to state Strickland has "suffered great anxiety, embarrassment, anger, loss of enjoyment of life, injury to reputation and severe emotional and physical distress in an amount to be determined at trial."

The suit claims the sum total of these issues have caused Strickland permanent disability. The suit asks for the couple to be rewarded: general damages exceeding the minimum amount of $75,000, as well as, among other things: punitive damages, payment of all medical and incidental expenses, to date and in the future; all proven loss of earnings; and all legal costs of filing the suit. The couple has asked for a jury trial.

Alameda County Sheriff Greg Ahern initially requested Ujiri be charged with battery of a peace officer after the incident took place, claiming Ujiri struck Strickland's jaw and shoulder. Eventually, however, the Alameda County District Attorney's Office declined to press any charges after a monthslong investigation ended with a meeting between the office, Ujiri and his lawyers in October.

ESPN confirmed with an Alameda County Sheriff's Office spokesperson that the officer is currently on leave, although the representative declined to say anything further for privacy reasons.

"We have just been made aware a claim has been filed," said a spokesperson for Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, the Raptors' ownership group. "We have no comment at this time."

The couple are suing not only Ujiri but also the Raptors, MLSE and the NBA itself on six separate counts: assault, battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, negligence (twice) and loss of consortium. The suit alleges that the Raptors, MLSE and the NBA, among other things "failed to provide adequate safety and security measures to protect members of the public."

The suit went on to list several things that could have been done, including, "post signs warning of danger, including the danger of Masai Ujiri."
