Let's say hypothetically Durant and Cousins leave but all of their other major players stay... That gives them:
Curry
Klay
Iguodala
Green
Bogut
Basically the 73-9 team minus Harrison Barnes and with a few years of age added to their main players. They only won 57 games this year with Durant but they had a lot of injuries and were coasting. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
I still expect them to at the top of the enchelon of the WC .. because if Durant walks they will have some cap space to add talent to there roster and they can decide to move Green for a more reliable scorer.

Andre and Andrew are getting old.
Green seems to get distracted for long periods.
Curry will miss his 10+ games.
They would be very dangerous if healthy, but would have to really watch minutes until the playoffs.
Curry played at a GOAT level during that 73-9 season but has fallen back to earth since then. Draymond has also fallen off. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
If we get Kawhi I think we beat them in the playoffs. They're going to have major Finals fatigue and I've never trusted Curry to play his best in the playoffs. Klay has been really streaky the last couple years too. Dray will start his decline next year probably, even in the playoffs. They'll be a really good team...but I think we beat them

What's crazy is that if they hadn't gotten Durant, the Warriors could have possibly ended up with only one championship. _________________ Damian Lillard shatters Dwight Coward's championship dreams:
If the Warriors give a max contract to Thompson and keep Durant and some other fill-ins, they will be at approx. $190mil in salary, which will have them paying OVER $100mil in penalties!
If they lose to the Rockets, they may choose to pull the plug on both Thompson & Durant... _________________ “Always remember... Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.”

nope even if Durant leaves Klay's cap hold or max extension will give them basically no cap room _________________ (bleep) Kawhi
Sam Presti might’ve had a better chance of keeping Durant had they at least made it to the Finals in 2016 before losing. They hadn’t been able to get out of the Western Conference since 2012 and Durant was tired of it.
Had the Thunder closed out a 73-win GSW team that year, Presti could’ve spun it to say they’re so close to winning it all; Durant/Westbrook would just need a Horford to push them over the top. But no, that choke job was the last straw. Perhaps Durant felt he could still get his points at GSW, but it would no longer be in vain.

Yea, they can't sign anyone significant to replace Durant because they will still be over the luxury tax threshold with Klay. If Durant leaves, the dynasty is over, but they will still contend for the WCF imo.

I think it’s the end of their dynasty. They’ll be really good still, but I don’t see another title. How this series goes with Houston will be telling now that Durant is out as that will be their team next year.
Get physical with Steph to slow him down. Klay is very streaky at times. Draymond is a good player, but overrated. The rest besides an aging iggy are decent role players. Not to mention all these long playoff runs take a toll. Along with Dallas getting white hot from 3, I think that played a huge factor on our back to back teams from getting us to a showdown with Miami in 2010-2011. _________________ We pour this booze and we drink this booze because we think it's yummy. Bogut is likely going back to AU basketball.
If Durant leaves I seriously doubt every other team in the league is going to make player moves and GSW is going to stand still. I doubt that's the case if he stays.
I think if Durant walks, then they'll keep Cousins.
Cousins didn't really up his stock. His end game with GST was to be a core player on a ring team and then go cash in. He may get a ring this year but he wasn't a core player.
So IMO Cousins will stay, probably on another 1 year deal, get more touches and action with Durant gone. They'll probably max out Klay.
It then depends on how the GST core ages. Cousins/Green/Iguodala/Klay/Curry, is still the most balanced talent attack in the league. They would still be better than any Western Conference team as of today. So it would come down to their own motivation, and how much gas was left in the tank. Knowing GST luck and draw appeal to free agents, they'll find a way to sign a quality scorer/shooter like JJ Redick for a MLE.

I 100% agree with how it depends on how they age. Will Iggy start feeling his age at 35 next year while probably having to play more minutes? Can Curry stay healthy and consistently play very high minutes through the entire season and playoffs which he hasnt done in the last few years? Will Cousins come back cheap and stay healthy this time? The biggest concern though is if Thompson stays or goes.. I fully expect him to stay if Durant leaves but if he does end up leaving they could very well end up being a middle of the pack team that could be fighting for even a low seed.
Saying all that I expect them to still be dangerous and probably a top 4 seed but no team will be afraid of them anymore in the playoffs and I do not see them making it to the finals. There 2 best players in Klay and Curry are EXTREMELY inconsistent where they could look like MVP level players sometimes and then completely disappear other times.
