Can't believe how cheap we are.

Ikr. Understandable Lue would want 5 years, he just saw that Monty Williams with no championship just get a 5 year contract from Phoenix.

Well said, I don't blame Lue for breaking it off either -- guess this is how Pelinka lowballs during negotiations.

Ty Lue and his reps turned down the Lakers’ offer Tuesday, per league sources. LAL regrouped with an offer in the range of 3 years, $18 million today.

Sounds like Lakers initially offered Lue less than 3 years yesterday, and only upped their offer to 3 years today.

Kinda disrespectful. When you see Luke getting four-years straight after getting fired by the Lakers.

3 years at 18M is a reasonable offer. If he succeeds he can ask for more

If he wants to play the Lakers they should go elsewhere.
Make Thibs the offer as he is a better defensive coach.

Even Howard.

I still don't get the 3 years (same amount of years LeBron has remaining). Every coach out there has been getting 5 years.

Lue went to 3 straight Finals and got 1 ring as well. Add cheap to the list of things that everyone is going to make fun of.

We have a huge TV deal. Tons of money. Lue was the best out there for us and yet we managed to F that up too.

Kawai, KD, Klay, Kyrie all shaking their heads right about now.

Nobody is going to want to come to our dysfunctional team as it stands today.

Unbelievable.

Can't believe how cheap we are. The logic is that since he is being paid by the Cavs so we shouldn't pay market value is logic by idiots

I think the logic is, "let's see what you can do for us before giving you an extensive contract." I think we should have learned from passed coaching experience that sometimes a big contract right away isn't the best thing. A coach should have to earn their pay and years of coaching for us, by doing good as a coach for us. So, I don't think it's cheap, I think it's smart.

Kinda disrespectful. When you see Luke getting four-years straight after getting fired by the Lakers.

More importantly, when the Lakers hired Walton, they gave him a 5 year deal.

3 year deal is ridiculous.

It ties in with the LeBron contract.

That isn't smart by the king's. We shouldn't emulate that ideology. We are doing the right thing by telling a coach they have to earn their worth with us. Nevermind what you did for another team, what are you gonna do for us? Show us and we will pay you and extend your contract.

Lue wants 5 years only because he knows he won’t be here for 5 years. Like Luke, wants to work here maybe 3 years and get paid off for the last 2 once he gets fired.
