A) Lebron, his behind the scenes manipulations/team mgmt, and closing window?
B) A young asset who may be traded?
C) The draft pick who may not be in the team's plans?
D) One and done Lakers?
E) Summer league assets?
F) Potential free agents?
G) G leaguers?
H) Potential trade targets?
Summer is usually a time for anticipation and speculation of player improvements, getting excited over prospects, and expecting team improvements. With all players up for potential trades, it feels like a waste time being emotionally attached to players who may not be here next year. I'm used to rooting for Lakers players year to year, but who do I root for now?
More and more, I'm following stats of former young Lakers.
Anyone else excited about next year's potential roster?

Seriously, does this really need to exist as a thread?
Seems like a generic piss and moan to me.
Does LG need to exist as a website to discuss Lakers issues? Seriously?
You're not discussing Lakers issues. You're saying. "I think everything sucks -- who agrees with me?"
Generic piss and moan
You're 100% wrong. I'm saying I like Lakers players, but I don't know who to like because they may not be here next year. Who did I say sucks? You're reaching.

So it seems like your actual point is: You don't want to be emotionally invested in any Lakers players because they may be gone soon?
Fair enough. My response would be: I'm not particularly emotionally invested in any of them now. I don't really care who stays or go. I care about building the best team.

All you're saying is, "Everything in Lakerland sucks - who agrees with me?"
That's cool. There are a million posts on this board like the one you wrote. I just don't know why it justifies having a new thread
You don't root for the same aspects of the team that I do. I closely monitor every aspect of player development. You get into cap space, other types of NBA rules, etc. For someone who identifies with, and has always identified with specific favorite players, this is a weird year. It has nothing to do with anything sucking.

I’m excited about Ball and Ingram. Don’t trade those dudes!
I hope they don't, but we know AD is going to get moved. With other teams competing, how much will it cost the Lakers? The amount of assets were reportedly offered is too much.
Caruso with improved 3 pt shot and Kuzma with improved defense. I think Ingram and Ball are gone.
I'd rather have Ball alone over those two.. Same goes for Ingram.
Kuzma with improved D😂😂. Yeah holler at me when that lasts more than four-five games. He tries on D and still gets burnt. That’s the worst part about it. Doesn’t bode very well for his defensive upside.

Caruso.
I'll be more excited about players if we survive the trade deadline without trading away any more of our young core.
As for landing another Max free agent, we'll see. Imploding after the ASB did us no favors in that regards. When I say 'imploding' I mean win-loss record as well as the painfully public trade everyone for AD fiasco that NOBODY in our Front Office got in front of until it was way too late.
We needed a complete overhaul upstairs. Magic is gone, Luke is gone, but Rob's still there and Jeannie is still calling the shots. And it looks like she'd rather hire a mediocre coach really quickly than hire a competent POBO who then chooses his GM and coach.
So - the Lakers have placed some pretty sizeable and unnecessary hurdles in front of themselves with regards to pulling in top tier free agents, meaning they'll have to continue jettisoning their promising young players to co-opt another top tier player to play alongside LeBron. Bye bye Lonzo? Bye Bye Ingram? Both?
Yeah, at this stage - I'm excited about Caruso. I don't think he's trade bait just yet. We'll see what this summer brings.
Ball has drama with his dad plus injuries and trouble with his shooting
Ingram has a serious health issue
Kuzma had a questionable outside shot
Hart had a huge drop off in offensive efficiency
Mo showed flashes of offensive skill, but overall looked disappointing compared to drafting Robinson or Shamet.
Why am I saying this?
If you are a glass half full type of person... Lonzo works on his shot, puts on some Nikes which solve his ankle issues, improves and has a breakout season.
Ingram's DVT becomes a minor blip on an otherwise brilliant career and he continues the upward trajectory that has him following Giannis's statistical curve.
Kuzma's outside shot starts falling, he continues to improve his passing and defense, and becomes a solid offensive threat
Hart's injuries clear up and his efficiency returns to his rookie season, we get a good coach who helps him with some of his tendency to overcommit and make mental errors on defense.
Mo adds some strength and works on his shooting and becomes a reliable rotation stretch 4.
If you are a glass half empty type person,
Lonzo's shot is permanently broken, he continues under the spell of LaVar and his team insists on Klutching their way to the three brother fantasy.
Ingram's DVT becomes Bosh like and a potentially brilliant career comes to an end.
Kuzma's outside shot doesn't return and he becomes tall Clarkson
Hart's rookie season becomes a fluke and he remains an okay sub, borderline rotation player.
Mo continues shooting threes at 29% and is out of the league in five years.
This will be the debate between our people and the Pelicans and while we will try to sell the first narrative, the Pelicans will push back at the high risk factors about the second narrative... and if we want to get AD in a trade from them... we will have to add an extra piece or two along with draft pick.
Personally, I tend to believe the more optimistic narrative... especially with regard to Ingram... but my point remains that these players have a lot of question marks and that will be leveraged against us in any trade deals.
Ball and Ingram plus #11 for AD?
No way this happens.
Are they worth it? Maybe... if the optimistic scenario plays out... but since their value is depressed at the moment... we will have to let go of a Kuzma and a Hart, maybe Mo even to offset the risk factor for the Pelicans.
But rather than betting that the pessimistic projections are the reality and trading them all... I think we should just keep them and sign whatever elite FA we can get... and if we can't find a good one, maybe sign a couple lesser ones.
Selling players at the bottom of their value for an injury prone superstar who hasn't won anything to pair with an old superstar who may only have another year or two makes zero sense to me at that price.

I was responding originally to the way you phrased your questionnaire. If you had simply made the list, which players would you be excited to keep and listed their names, I wouldn't have reacted the same way.
When you editorialized about the choices "Lebron, his behind the scenes manipulations/team mgmt, and closing window?" and "A young asset who may be traded?" it seemed like your were primarily griping.
