Here is Paul George saying the initial plan was to come to LA
He also says he wanted to play with Bron.
So why are you saying that the Lakers wooing LBJ is a problem?
PG13 seems to be a person that is easily influenced. I totally see WB convincing him to stay.
No, I was agreeing with the guy who said they started wooing Kawhi to pair with LBJ.
But my point was that they made him feel less wanted... so the LBJ situation contributed to the feeling of apathy towards him.
But answer this, would PG13 have come here by himself without LBJ? (No other all star FA last summer). Of course not.
I think if we focused our energy on him... yes.
To be honest... as a salesman and businessman, I don't get how we didn't close either PG or Kawhi by now.
If Rob doesn't close Kawhi or someone big, he's f*cking useless to me... because if you have a shark like prick running the team... he better at least be good at the shark part.
I'll have to disagree.
He complained about not having all star level talent around him on the Pacers, so he's going to agree to leave a playoff team (OKC) to join a bunch of unproven kids? Basically he would be ok doing what happened to LBJ this year (join the team without another star)?
I just don't see it. Blaming LBJ for PG13 changing his mind, I don't think that's fair.
So who are you going to blame if Klay, KD, Kawhi and Kyrie sign somewhere else in the off-season? Just curious, not trying to start an argument.
Them, If they don't want to be here it's on them
Yes, but why do you think they wouldn't want to be here? If I have 4 job opportunities, there's going to be a reason why I turned 3 of them down. It wouldn't be on me, it would be something about those other 3 jobs I didn't like.

Houston is going to beat the Warriors this year. They should have last year and they are going to do it this year. Just like the Lakers lost in the 2nd round in '11 off back-to-back titles, GS is going to do the same (though I'd be shocked if it were a sweep). Just too much mental fatigue and physical fatigue. Houston will be more motivated and they are playing better.
It's not fair to put all of the Rockets' defensive issues in Anthony's lap, but the on- and off-court numbers are rather startling. Houston allows 113.9 points per 100 possessions with Anthony on the floor, the most of any Houston player with at least 100 minutes. That number plummets to 98.6 when Anthony sits, more than seven points fewer than any other player on the roster.
Rockets' glaring weakness
With Bzdelik on the coaching staff, the Rockets were a top-10 defense during last year's run to the NBA's best record. Through eight games this season, Houston has taken a hard dip in a number of key defensive stats.
Put another way: Houston has been one of the NBA's worst defenses (Cleveland's 118.5 points per 100 possessions is dead last in the league) with Melo, and the stingiest defense (Boston leads the NBA at 98.9 points per 100 possessions) when he sits this season. Small-sample-size theater, but still.
Quote:
It shouldn't be Bzdelik's job to get Anthony on board -- and he couldn't do that in Denver. The coach and young star publicly clashed about Anthony's commitment, or lack thereof, to defense back then. The Nuggets had a remarkable turnaround during Melo's rookie season, going from 17 to 43 wins, but Bzdelik didn't make it through December of Anthony's second year. He was fired when the Nuggets fell to 13-15 after a six-game losing streak, the final five of which Anthony missed due to a sprained ankle that recovered well enough for him to play 42 minutes in the next game.

In before Dreamshake curses me as a hex.
I just hope the pain from last year drives them to get it done this year, barring good health (ala Detroit in 89). CP3 and Harden have both changed up their workout regimens, and I'm sure Harden's improvement had something to do with the work he out in after how it ended last year.
