Just terrible. One of my favorite artists.

Ignorant people will say “just another dead gangster” but anyone who knew anything about Nipsey would describe him as an Artist, Activist, Entrepreneur and a truly genuine individual who always gave back to his community and loved his community. Oh and he loved his Lakers.

Rest in paradise Nip, Laker fam.

I couldn't name one song that he was involved in or recorded, but I did know who he was and that he was a Laker fan. And judging from the reaction on social media, he definitely made an impact on many athletes. RIP.

He was shot about a 1/4 mile from my apartment. I heard and saw the helicopters. It didn't dawn on me it was about Nipsey. RIP

Crenshaw and Slauson was a mess last night. It's just opening up again. Nipsey was more than a rapper. He had plans to help the community and build a business empire.

Nipsey Hussle's Business Moves Were Ahead Of His Time

LINK

Quote:
In recent years, Hussle, whose real name was Ermias Asghedom, had made it his mission to create jobs and educational opportunities in his hometown that would provide a pipeline for others to beat the odds and work towards creating generational wealth. Learning that the rapper was shot outside of one of his business ventures, the place where he also met London for the first time, only heightens the tragedy.

I only knew of him from some of his songs and his relationship to Laura London but looks like he was truly trying to make a positive impact on his community which i can definitely respect.
Needless to say it was a huge risk for someone of that status to be posted up all in the open in a spot like that, regardless of how much positive rep you have in your hood. It only takes one knucklehead trying to make a name for them self for something like this to go down.

I'm not surprised a lot of hip hop artists who made it don't return to the communities they grew up from. They are rich and probably a target now for people that are jealous of their success or feel that they owe them something.

why can't neighbors be brothers

Wealthiest man I knew said he wants everyone to prosper and I watched him benefit others knowing it all comes back to him

My childhood was filled with some hardcore Rap that somewhat infected.. yes infected my head. Sure I could have changed the channel but the rage and power and beats were something I identified with..

but they rapped about
killing cops
killing other brothers
running trains on prostitutes
etc
Unknowingly .. Fertilizing the minds of those who also think that way. Feeding steak to the rabid...

One of the raps I do sincerely respect is Dear Mama
