I read from a Heat fan that Juwan Howard is good at developing young players, if that’s true it makes sense to give him a serious consideration, assuming that the FO has a plan to bring back most of the young players. |

Derrick Jones Jr looked good this year, I’m guessing Howard had a lot to do with it. |

If Williams gets the coaching job, someone needs to paste Monty's face on A.I. in a .gif of that video. |

This has been a very disappointing beginning of the offseason.
The only thing that could make this worse is if 12, 13 and 14 jump into the top 3 and the Lakers end up picking 14th. |

I could see a Monty Williams Head Coach, Juwan Howard Associate Head Coach outcome. I think Lebron and Pelinka would both be good with that situation.
BTW, I don't know if this is in the thread already or not, but Miles Simon is the only coach still listed on the Lakers official website:

Does this sound familiar or what? I encourage everyone to read...
http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/14629892/nba-final-unraveling-david-blatt
Quote: | This set the stage for a traumatic tenure for Blatt. In fairness, this was not the team he had been hired to coach, as James had signed and the young player Blatt was primarily hired to develop, Andrew Wiggins, had been traded to acquire Kevin Love.
"David was hired to coach a developmental team and young players who would've wanted to please him," one team source said. "He ended up coaching a finished product where the players expected him to please them."
To complicate matters, the Cavs hired the runner-up for the job, Lue, to be Blatt's assistant. To keep him away from the Clippers, the Cavs gave him a record four-year, $6.5 million deal -- for an assistant. Gilbert would later call the coaching staff the best he had assembled in his time as owner. |

Quote: | Lakers brass interviewing Monty Williams on East Coast tonight. Told he is Lakers FIRST choice. Also told if Sixers disappoint in playoffs, Monty Williams gets Sixers gig. He will take that over Lakers opening. Therefore opening up LA job for Ty Lue. |

if this is true
So Monty Williams is the first interview. After the first interview, he is their first choice, without evaluating the other head coaching candidates available. Oh and the only person conducting these interviews is Rob Pelinka...
The stupidity of how this team is run knows no bounds |

It's says interviewing. He didn't become first choice after the interview |

If Monty gets the Sixers gig that means we can go after Brett Brown. |

right, but if Monty is their number one before the interviews, pretty damn sure that he’ll be the number one after interviews. _________________ Darvin |

So just on a basic level, how is Pelinka evaluating coaches? He's apparently doing these interviews solo. Also feels like any coach with any respect for themselves would ask "are you even going to be here next week?" |

It clearly states in the link that he is the Lakers first choice...

Starting to get attached to the idea of Monty as head coach. Which probably means Juwan is already hired and the whole interview process is a charade. _________________ It was reminiscent of one of those Most Interesting Man in the World advertisements: "I don't always shoot 6-for-28 from the field, but when I do, I become the youngest player in league history to score 28,000 career points." |

As i suspected, it sounds like Pelinka is a very easy guy to impress in an interview. How much can this guy really know about basketball? How many months of research did he say led to him determining the best guys to sign with 29 mil were Lance/Rondo/Beasley/KCP? But great to hear he fell in love with a guy who straight up told him "you're my backup plan." Lakers already relegated to side ho status. |

If Pelinka is the acting PBO, does anyone know if he has contacted LeBron about his preference?
Or if he's unofficially consulted any of the potential Max Free Agents about their preference?
The one thing about Pelinka that sorta gives me hope is he seems like the type of guy who will toe the line in negotiations. I have no doubt he will not miss on a max free agent for lack of trying.
That's why I believe that if Monty is our 1st choice, he's LeBron's 1st choice and a potential max free agent's 1st choice. |

Considering the names speculated, he's my guy. Even Lue, I think is much better than Jackson or Kidd. And I'm happy I haven't heard Thib's name yet. _________________ .... |

The Lakers fired the entire coaching staff. Miles Simon is the only survivor. |

Wow. This list is nauseating. Have we really sunk so far down to the depths of basketball hell that we have to not only talk to these coaches, but are desperate for them to boot. |

I wouldn't say desperate, but the Lakers are coach-less so therefore need one.
Who would be on your list if you don't like any of the names mentioned so far? |
