Class act. Sorry to see it end. RIP The show will continue. Who will be the host? _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I loved Bob like everyone, but Alex is right up there with him, definitely in the same echelon. As a game show host, he was in the Dick Clark domain, however, referring specifically to The Pyramid. Both were straight laced, tight, knowledgeable, and cared about the integrity of the rules and scores to a Chickish level. Alex has been an erudite voice of television forever it seems. And didn't turn out to be a dick like Chuck Woolery, Bob Eubanks, and Pat Sajak. It's weird that I remember hearing his voice in the early 80s and he was still there in 2018. He never lost his appeal either. Richard Dawson was a titan in the industry for a number of years in the 70s and 80s, but he attempted a comeback in the 90s that fizzled out. Trebek was there continuously like Barker. A voice you literally grew up with. Even the LG dudes who are 50s remember Alex when they were still young and vital and didn't need Viagra. Amazing career. He'll be missed. Irreplaceable like Bob, but the show must go on. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Aww, I liked him a lot. RIP good sir. _________________ “There is always light if only we're brave enough to see it, if only we're brave enough to be it.” --Amanda Gorman
He fought his deadly disease with remarkable grace and dignity. And wit. Rest well, Mr. Trebek.
Hear, hear. And he was at ease with dying and looked back on his life as one well-lived. Not all of us will feel that way when the final day comes and many of us won't get to 80. Eddie Van Halen only reached 65 and iirc, pancreatic cancer is among the quickest types of cancer to metastasize. I looked at a list on Eddie's wiki page of notable people who died at the same hospital in Santa Monica (iirc) and one of them was Farrah Fawcett who died on the same day as Michael Jackson of anal cancer. Imagine that horror. It has the same chief cause as cervical cancer, which is HPV that comes from male gahbage and numerous sexual partners over one's lifetime sans protection. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Interesting that Alex replaced Art Fleming as the host of Jeopardy. Art later died of pancreatic cancer. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.

No argument from me. I agree with you. They're 1 and 1a.

No argument from me that you had no argument from me and you on. I think..... I got Barker 1 and Trebek in the same echelon lest I'm forgetting or don't know about some major name from the 50s-70s. But it's possible that Trebek is no worse than 1a or 2, however you wanna put it. Matter of fact, Trebek probably showed less of a decline than even Barker did and that was with cancer. Amazing how strong and consistent his voice and appearance were for 30-40 years. That's not something you can help, but on TV it's still somethin to marvel at the same way people used to marvel at Dick Clark's appearance and decades of high ability as we also did with Chick (also a game show host lest we all forget). It is a visual and aural medium. I wonder what's going on with Barker now. I hope he's not best kept out of the public eye. He's a year older than Jimmy Carter, I would hope he's still as sharp as Jimmy is. Something I'll say for Dick Clark is that every iteration of Pyramid that's been tried since he hosted it has been utter garbage. It was evident how well he lead that game after he left it. I hope Jeopardy! doesn't befall that fate. For that matter, Family Feud has had varied success since early Dawson tho I liked Ray Combs. Combs was the short lived host in the late 80s. He committed suicide in a tragic manner. He got screwed out of that show and I thought he was both amusing and good at hosting it. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

Trebek, Dick Clark, Barker, and Regis Philbin are probably my favorite game show hosts ever.
Also, shout-outs to Alan Ludden, Wink Martindale, Bill Cullen, Bert Convy, Bob Eubanks, Pat Sajak, and Peter Tomarken. I loved the original Press Your Luck, with Tomarken. I also liked Meredith Vieira on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, when she first took over the syndicated version.

I saw the documentary on how that one guy figured out how to beat the Whammies on Press Your Luck. It was never aired, of course. It showed him kicking ass and Tomarken had this look and sound to his voice that signaled "UH OH...This is not good." And Wink Martindale. That's one I forgot. Perfect game show host name. Real name Winston. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL SEDALE TRIBUTE EDDIE DONX!

No way, broseph, I said it there: Chick (also a game show host lest we forget).
Almost every southern California sports announcer (Chick, Vin Scully and Dick Enberg) had a stint hosting game shows. The only one missing was the immortal Dick Lane, king of wrestling and those unbeatable Los Angeles Thunderbirds.

Monty Hall and Richard Dawson (you have to watch the compilation of him kissing family feud ladies by the hundreds) deserve mention _________________ “We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.” ― Elie Wiesel

Yes, absolutely, I should have mentioned those two. Steve Harvey is also quite entertaining as the current host of the Feud. Worst host of that show? I'll say Richard Karn.

Richard Dawson was awesome in The Running Man. _________________ KOBE
