Anyone notice Randle yelling at Luke after every score?

Shaq barked at Dr. Buss while still a Laker. It happens and it’s quite alright.

Randle's a jerk, he wanted $20mil/yr from the Lakers and they said "No Thank you" and he settled for $9mil/yr from the Peli's...

If he had asked for $9mil/yr from the Lakers he would have still been here!

The fact is NO ONE, wanted him for $20mil/yr...

Never read anything about that.

I figure it was more so over years extended rather than max money. Hell he saw his buddy Jordan Clarkson reel in $50 million over 4 years during his tenure as a Laker. An Julius is easily worth 10-15 million a season.

Magic and Rob Pelinka have been adamant at maintaining their cap space especially after signing Lebron. If the Lakers somehow land a KD,Klay,Kawhi,or Kyrie this summer it should ease the pain of losing Julius a bit more.

Randle was good on offense but his defense is atrocious which is why he's probably never going to get a big long term deal. He's a 10 million dollar player. Can't believe he asked the Lakers for 20 million.

I understand barking at Magic, but why Luke? Feel like he was good to Randle.

He scored well during the no-defense track meet. As usual, he was invisible when it mattered most.

Maybe he was telling Luke to relay a message to Magic...?

Randle is a good one on one player. Tough to guard because of his size and ability to handle the ball. But, he's not a game changer and he doesn't add much to the overall offense.

Could have used some of Jules's gusto on this team.

However, defensively, holy cow, he's really not giving much on that end at all.

Yeah I noticed that especially toward the end of the game, they were making a clear effort to attack Julius on defense and it produced great results.

He might have been yelling at Walton but I was yelling at my TV.

So disappointed they just let that young man walk. His bull in a china shop energy is fun to watch.

Despite his flaws, Lakers could have used him this year. Too bad they could not find some common ground on a contract.

Yes, still on a tanking team. Our bigs were useless against him.

Ironically, Luke probably got the best out of Julius. It's hard to believe this is the same player he was calling "the best one-on-one defender in the league" last season.

Look Luke and Randle are friends and Randle is talking trash. SO What!!!

No if you want to be mad at Magic & Rob for failing to being back Randle who was our best player last year by a wide margin then I am with you. They had all the leverage and totally screwed it up. They wasted a key asset who apparently now shoots the 3 better than any of our forwards.

Yep, pretty much.

I still prefer Lebron over Randle for the next four seasons. They’re taking turns to see who’s worst on defense though. Painful to watch. NOLA fans have been trashing Randle’s defense all season. He looks really good on offense though.

I thought Randle actually did a really good job on LeBron.
TBH, LeBron is showing his age (maybe injury). Plays which used to be dunks are now layups. He is also taking alot of really hard shots.

Yet we are soon going to be paying Lebron $40 mil a year not to play defense.

This whole 20 million deal is something I have never heard about until just now. Show me the link or it is BS, just another stupid thing that an unhappy Laker fan came up with.

To my memory the contract negotiations never got that far. Lakers extended a qualifying offer ($6M?) to be able to make him a restricted FA and match any offers. Then within days the 2 max FA frenzy escalated and they rescinded the offer. Randle then took the one year deal with the Pelicans.

IMO the $20M number being used was from a discussion around here of his true market value. Some said $10M, some used the A. Gordon 4 yr/$80M as a comparable contract. I was leaning towards the $20M mark but was hoping the FO could find a happy compromise. In the 4 yr/$60M range would have made me happy.

Will be interesting to see what his market value this summer will be. A hard working 24 year old 20/10 player that may or may not play defense on a regular basis. Guessing he gets a raise.

Randle never had a problem with Luke, in fact he thanked him. Randle didn't feel he was in the long term plans of the Lakers. Luke told Randle to prove the front office wrong.

Luke Walton challenged Julius Randle to prove Lakers wrong with extension decision - https://clutchpoints.com/lakers-news-luke-walton-challenged-julius-randle/

Pretty much. Zubac held his ground pretty well against him the first time they played cause he couldn't bullyball him.

I kept hearing repeatedly from someone here that "he can guard 1-5"... sorry, but I don't see it.
